    Retro racer/touring sizes

I'm the same size as you and 22" or 23" is about right for me height wise, but invariably too long and I get shoulder pain after 25 miles or so. Always thought I must have short arms. What I do is shove the saddle as far forward as possible and if that doesn't work or feels wrong then I fit a...

    Wear a helmet or not?

Mark, I'd say get one and wear it. I've been in a similar position as yourself having returned to cycling after 25 yrs. Up till now I've only worn a helmet if part of my ride was on busy B or A roads. However, last Monday, crossing some common land without helmet, I managed to ride into a...

A bike designed by G.O.D well nearly

If you see a Ritmo for sale, grab it. Same frame and they usually go quite cheap. Not quite so nice parts though. Agree they do ride nicely.

    Orbit America road bike

Have a look under the BB for a serial number. The 1st two digits may be the year. From what I've seen yours looks very late 80's / early 90's. (sloping fork crown and later solid typeface decals). 105 and RX100 parts seem most common on examples I've seen. Unfortunately there's not a lot on the...

Fitting 700c rear wheel on vintage gazelle frame. Help!

Well, this may make you wince - I squeezed a set of 135mm hybrid wheels into this scruffy Dawes Fox which was 120mm originally. It's a plain steel frame and the rear is really springy and spread very easily. I wouldn't do it to a 531 or similar frame but the bike wasn't getting much use and I...

Shimano Brakes Hoods - advice needed

Here you go TwoSheds. As you can see these Dia-Compe hoods on 6207 levers are a bit tall/high, a little loose at the top and could do with trimming back under the lever. Still they work fine and comfortable to ride on.

Shimano Brakes Hoods - advice needed

Re: Re: OK, will do as I didn't get round to it today.. Looks like I'll need rain gear to get into the garage tomorrow. Well I've got to get in there as I need to sort out mudguards on the winter hack. Yep, it's that time of year again, sigh.

    1975 Carlton Corsa - upgraded...

Looks good Spokesmann! I'm just doing something similar with my old Dawes Fox, except I've stuck one of SJS's cheap compact chainsets on it. I think I'll give the dynamo lights a miss - but they do look right. It won't look a patch on yours though, too much missing paintwork!

Please, help me identify this 'Mordonini' bike!

OK, pics now visible. Can't help with the bike, a bit modern for me. Looks quite nice though but if it was mine I'd change those pedals, they look like they came off an MTB or BMX.
