    Sunbeam restoration

I've seen one online from the 1930s (I suspect most people researching have), but nothing later. There's a series of books available to buy but frankly they're too expensive.

    Sunbeam restoration

Does anyone know what model name this was given? I've started on the front wheel, gonna service the bearings, check the dynamo and remove excess rust. The spoke nipples don't look too bad but we'll see.

    Sunbeam restoration

Thanks for the info, it's going to be a shopping bike, not a full restoration. The supermarkets around here are all on completely flat roads :) And thankfully there are big plans afoot around Greater Manchester to install popup cycleways everywhere, which I'm slightly involved with (on a...

    Sunbeam restoration

Found a serial number on the rear non-drive side dropout. Looks to me like "S4 8998"

    Sunbeam restoration

Hi there, I've just collected a Sunbeam gents bike and wondered if people here had an idea of the model and approximate age? Also, where to find the frame number? I can see marks on a rear dropout but I haven't cleaned anything yet. I am wondering if the number is on the dropout inside the...

    Kryptonite K4 u-lock

Success! I don't think it's exactly the same but it was a long time ago now and not a component I would have looked at all the time. Anyhow, it fits nicely and will be going on the bike. Now all I need is a Specialized Speedzone Team Wireless cycle computer in translucent red, but they're...

    Kryptonite K4 u-lock

Just bumping this back up, I'm still after one of these. I found what I think is the patent for this holder.

Cateye (I think) rear light, circa 1992

Got it :) Brand new, never opened, never used. Mint condition.

    Kryptonite K4 u-lock

I don't need the actual lock, just the frame mount, which looks like the attached pics. Will gladly pay more than what the bracket is actually worth, it's just to get my old u-lock back on my old bike (which hangs on a wall looking nice these days). It has to be the K4 I think (early 1990s)...

Cateye (I think) rear light, circa 1992

Re: Thanks guys, I'd seen the black one and I'm definitely considering it. But I've also seen this: https://www.usedproducts.nl/webshop/cat ... nieuw.html I don't understand how that website works but I know someone in NL who should be able to help me get it, if it's still available. I'd...

Cateye (I think) rear light, circa 1992

Sorry to be spamming, this is the exact light I'm after. If anyone has one, please let me know.

Cateye (I think) rear light, circa 1992

Just to add, the closest thing I can find is the Cateye HL-500, which is a front light. But if you imagine the battery compartment being vertical, not horizontal - that's the style. /edit - found the light! I just need to buy one now. It's a Cateye TL-510.

Cateye (I think) rear light, circa 1992

Hi guys, I'm after a Cateye rear light that I had in the early 1990s. I spent several hours yesterday looking for it, convinced I had it in a box somewhere, but I must have chucked it years back. I haven't seen it in a very long time. I can't find a picture, but I can describe it. It was...

    Repairing a TVT frame?

Re: It can be repaired but it's probably only worth it to someone who wants that particular frame and colour scheme. I spent a small fortune on my tvt but it was the bike of my dreams as a teenager and choosing to spend so much money wasn't difficult. I still adore it.

    Repairing a TVT frame?

For 75 Euro that's actually not bad, the paint looks as though it's in good condition. If I were interested I'd probably buy that, get a new dropout made, and fit it myself. Removing the old dropout is the challenge - perhaps you'd have to very carefully drill it out. A carbon repair...

    Repairing a TVT frame?

No reason why a machinist couldn't make a replacement dropout, however, there's going to be a fair bit of work involved in removing the old pieces of metal and bonding the new dropout in. Would it not be cheaper to keep looking for a frame in better condition?

    Lemond tsx or tvt?

Bit of bottom bracket advice needed. Today, the drive side cup (right hand thread, Italian) came loose on a ride. Now I'd threadlocked this cup before and done over 100 miles without issue, but it came loose again. Did I not torque it up enough the last time I fastened it on? Or should I...

    Kryptonite lock frame mount

An unusual request this, but I still have my circa 1990 Krypto Lok that I used on my college bike (which I've fully restored), and I'd like to mount it correctly on the frame. If memory serves, it was on the downtube and mounted so the "U" part of the lock was horizontal, pointing to the front...
