On balance, I still am not a fan of e-bikes (previously known as ‘I just don’t get E bikes’)

Ive 2. My first is a Carrera subway E the Mrs Chopper bought me for our wedding anniversay a few years ago. Its had some good reviews as a no nonsense machine, and I love it. I typically manage 35-40 miles on the battery despite its relarively small stated capacity (I think its rather more...

Oh my days, honestly, it can be hilarious fun. It should be an Olympic sport, its that entertaining. Of course, on days when my hip is aching and im confined to the ebike its a childish, puerile waste of time, and the people who do it are childish eejuts.

Indeedy. I know 2 people, both coppers, who've stopped using the car for the commute due to a combination of cost and there being nowhere to park. They now use ebikes. From what I read that is a phenomenon being repeated on a very large scale across the country, partocularly in London and the...

Im waiting for a hip replacement. Some days im in a lot of pain and if I didn't have my ebike I wouldn't be riding at all a lot of the time. A friend of mine is 84 and his ebike has given him a new lease of cycling life. "Just eat more and pedal" is an incredibly arrogant attitude. Just...

beef farmers advising lettuce farmers on how to go vegan.!!!!

I never stated or implied that people should not speak out. Please do no seek to attribute words to me that were actually not spoken, that is most ungentlemanly behaviour. Some might say its awfully fascist... I said nothing more than those that make the most noise are often the guiltiest...

beef farmers advising lettuce farmers on how to go vegan.!!!!

Well, we all burn the stuff, all rush out to upgrade to the latest plastic toy when our contract allows, all help ourselves merrily to ore than our share of the planets respirces, so none of us are really innocent. People make a noise but aren't prepared to actually do anything themselves...

    Vintage Trials anyone?

I had a 900 Elefant and an XTZ750 for a while. The XTZ was quick but was awfully unformfortable. The Elefant was comfy and looked sexy but if a sparrow did a moist fart 4 counties away it would start to corrode. I sold the XTZ to a friend who promptly proceeded to throw himself up the road...

    Vintage Trials anyone?

Love the bikes but always been too big and heavy to be competitive - or even halfway competent - at trials.

    Hot women on marketplace adverts

Decades ago I went to apply for a mortgage. It was a sunny day and the sunlight was streaming through the office window of the very attractive lady managers office, rendering her white blouse completely transparent. Being transfixed as I was by this pleasant sight I got my mortgage at a very...

    Peugeot PA10L '75 - restauration process

I would judge the level of rust tackled to be comparable to yours, maybe slightly worse. This is someone elses expeience... https://www.cyclechat.net/threads/a-raleigh-twenty-refurbishment.258906/page-3 And you can take my word for it that it won harm the paint.

    Peugeot PA10L '75 - restauration process

Immerse the frame in a bath of dilute oxalic acid. Sounds horrific, but it does the rust without harming paint, chrome, plating, etc, in the slightest and is very inexpensive. Done 2 frames that way over the years. Forget your tinfoil, deox, citric acid, voodoo, human sacrifices, flamethrowers...

‘Weight premium….’ Oh how things change….

I a) have a 35 inch inside leg, and b) know how to ride off road properly, so a single gram expended upon a dropper isn't worth the weight premium to me.

...all the same or each one slightly different? Philosophy of bike fit....

I didn't have any issues. I only had the fit becase a friend of mine had booked and paid for it, then had quite a nasty motorbike accident an ended up in Adenbrookes for 5 months so couldnt make the appointment himself. Being the nice chap he is he let me go in his stead.
