    FINALLY got a 1991 GT Karakoram K2

Re: Never seenthe k2 model. They're just plain old Karakoram's here. I have a spare frame and fork to a 93 (black light) Karakoram just hanging in my garage. What's left of a parts bike I used for another 93 black light Karakoram build. I can't wait to see what happens with this build.

    1988-1989 Rocky Mountain Blizzard Slope/Team - DONE P8

Re: 1988-1989 Rocky Mountain Blizzard Slope/Team Thanks FluffyChicken, that dude Gil is a professional. That's what I've been looking for. It looks like he can re produce and print anything. I think I've found my new decal guy if he's willing. Thanks again FluffyChicken, and thanks jimi911 for...

    1988-1989 Rocky Mountain Blizzard Slope/Team - DONE P8

Re: This is looking nice, can't wait to see the progression. No more granite finish, are you going the powder coating route? Does your decal guy Gil have a web site or way of contact? I could really use a good reliable decal source.

1995 Raleigh Torus with a little bit of anodising.

Clearly I misinterpreted that first photo, it was not a tube, but a solid cylinder of aluminum. Sorry, I was not thinking DIY on the stem, hub, and dropouts. Yeah, this is going to be a very cool build. I think we'd all like to see more in process pics of various stages of the machining of...

1995 Raleigh Torus with a little bit of anodising.

What's with the pic of the raw tube? Tempting our tummy with the taste of nuts and honey? Oh so cruel to post such a pic amongst tinkerers and fixers....now all I can do is salivate and wait helplessly while the story slowly unfolds.

1995 Raleigh Torus with a little bit of anodising.

Re: I really like that "oil slick" finish anno. I'm not sure I'd call those levers cheap, they look like solid units to me. So far so great, I can't wait to see the rest of this thread.

    Klein Quantum Pro

Re: Yes this is one of the expensive paint material bikes. It's definitely a chameleon color as opposed to a simple flop color. Flop paints cost a bit, but chameleon paint costs a whole lot more. You can tell the difference between the two mainly because most flops tend to have a slightly milky...

    Klein Quantum Pro

Agreed, there are definitely no Quantums for $150 where I live either. I,d buy them all if there were. I say congrats on a gorgeous bike and hope you continue to enjoy it. BTW, I do so love the late Kleins when they started using the flop paint like this one...absolutely gorgeous. I'm just...

Mutiple splatter paint kona content, page 18/19 for latest builds

Re: That is a nice stable you got going there. All gorgeous bikes built with period correct parts. Only a few people in the states take care like that. It looks like the UK is the place to be if you want to see older MTB,s done right.

    Diamondback Apex build

Hi ultrazenith, So this is about a 96 vintage? I believe my Ascent ex is of the same vintage or at least had the same Diamond Back script on it. It has mostly LX on it. The Hubs, crankset, brakes, frt and rr mechs, pedals, and bottom bracket. I've upgraded the shifters to all in ones as...

    Diamondback Apex build

Re: How are you twain? I'm partial to Diamond Back MTB's so I'm loving your thread. Not only does the LX group look good on your bike, but I believe it is the group it originally came with. I have a few build I'm procrastinating on at the moment, one of them is a smoke color theme Apex, and...

    1990 Cannondale, patina or powder?

I say just ride as is, it still looks pretty nice. On the other hand if you're just itching to spend some money then I would say PVD Coat it in aurora/ oil slick if you want to turn some heads.

1937 SCHWINN EXCELSIOR X - NICKEL PLATED - GARY FISHER CLONE

Re: Are you in doubt of those factory welds too 34henry? I don't particularly trust the welds on my old Schwinn, looks as if they were done with an olds tick welder...which they probably were. Is your welder planning on brazing to reinforce, or a complete clean and re weld on effected areas...

Custom painted '93 DiamondBack Ascent ex

Re: Re: I know it's not a Klein, but I'm such a sucker for that linear fade. Seeing as you have a Klein I'll take that as a great compliment. Thanks for the reply jimo746. It rides like a dream, I'm such a freak...you just know every gear changes crisp, and the breaks are perfectly toed and...

1937 SCHWINN EXCELSIOR X - NICKEL PLATED - GARY FISHER CLONE

Woah, your attention to detail and use of period correct parts is amazing. Not too many people go this far to exactly reproduce something that was a throw together when it was created. That makes it all that much cooler. Mad respect 34henry3w for a job very well done. One of my many projects...

Custom painted '93 DiamondBack Ascent ex

The polishing job is holding up great, still has a mirror shine. I did another Diamond Back about 7 years ago and the polished aluminum still shines like crazy. Sure beats ano, at least cost wise. I would like to do some anodizing on future bikes, but it costs an arm and a leg, plus it's hard to...

    1992 GT Karakoram

That thing looks sweet. I say enjoy it, that's what they're made for. I am currently building a 1993 that I resprayed, and have an extra 1993 GT Karakoram in blacklight I've yet to start. Oh, the one I re sprayed was a blacklight too, but was so faded it didn't look so nice anymore, so I had...
