1991 Specialized Hardrock (contains pink shots)

Biopace ring seems ok, the chains a 1/2 link and the dropouts allow enough adjustment to get good tension... The biopace does mean the tension varies slightly with stroke but is not been a problem so far (about 20 miles)... I might get a round, unramped ring at some point anyway... Definitely...

Only if I'd changed it to: "Who wants to offend an unsuspecting new member, without any due cause?" But that wouldn't go in the "Reader's MTBs --> 1997" would it.

I think you'll find "Reader's MTBs --> 1997" is a fair description of the thread I started.... Want I meant was, maybe you need a category called "Reader's MTBs --> 1997 --> Faithful Originals and Restorations with only Age Related Modifications and Upgrades Jesus, I mean really...

Hey, I'm all for comments that have some rationale behind them (I'm not sure that white saddle looks right or singlespeed aint my thing or those tyres aren't age correct or whatever) but nobody needs to be offensive when showing their dislike for something... It's a frame that has singlespeed...

1991 Specialized Hardrock (contains pink shots)

Thanks for the comments... Well, since they were in my parts bin including new pads, I fitted a red DX V-brake to the front last night... looks a bit odd against the pink paint, but works very well and the short lever feels much better and less flexy... Will probably fit the rear tonight...

Some interesting posts since I put this up yesterday and some nice bikes... I'm was 14 in 1991 when my newly aquired Hardrock was new. I had a Rideback 601GS then, which had the same crappy 200GS groupset and a "Hi-Ten" (marketing jargon for cheap and very heavy) frame, but cost a lot less...

1991 Specialized Hardrock (contains pink shots)

Well, after reading this forum regularily for a while I have my first retro project... My Father-in-law very kindly gifted me his loved but unused '91 Hardrock. In all the exictment of getting it home and setting to work, I stupidly forgot to take a photo before I stipped it down. Nonetheless...
