Shimano XTR M970 Rapidfire 9-spd shifters *BNIB*

Having a clear out of project parts that realistically are never going to get used, perhaps they'll be more use to you? As title, bought new by me in 2011 for a steel hardtail build, but never used (still have protective plastic on thumb levers). Brand new in box, with all original XTR cables...

Tomac Buckshot Pro frame & bits

Selling my 2003 Buckshot Pro frame. It's a medium (18" C-T), and comes with a Hope QR seat clamp, XT front mech and Cane Creek C2 headset (cups in frame) which is not perfect bearing wise, but still very useable. I've ran it with both Manitou Mars Elite 80mm and Reba 100mm, so fairly...

    Kona Impact Headset question

Hi, thanks for the link, very interesting. Well, the bottom race finally gave up the ghost a few months ago, and try as I might, I couldn't track down a direct replacement. However, the upper race was still like new, as were the bearings, so I've left all that as is, and simply put the lower...

I might just give that a go first... :D

Kona Impact headset query... (91 Cindercone)

Yes... it has been serviced and re-greased, but only twice - it's been buttery smooth until I put away in the winter. Surely new balls by themselves wouldn't do the trick as the race's look pretty shot? Obviously happier to do this with some fresh grease if it's an OK get-around, but if I...

Kona Impact headset query... (91 Cindercone)

After 20 odd years service the lower two races and bearings have finally bitten the dust. After some use in foul weather during Jan & Feb the bike was put into storage, steering was fine when it went away, but when I got it out yesterday, the steering was initially 'locked' in the straight...

Anybody use a quill to Aheadset adapter???

OK, seems like they'll be fine, particularly as the Cinder Cone is now my road only training bike. Where did you buy yours from, and are there adapters and adapters, so to speak? In quality / material terms I mean? Only ones I've seen have been on ebay...

Anybody use a quill to Aheadset adapter???

I ask as I currently have a threaded 1&1/8th headset on my '91 Kona Cinder Cone, and while the current period correct Syncros Cattle Prod looks great, I'm finding I'm getting quite a sore back on longer rides due to the stretched out riding position (frame is already fairly 'long' and the stem...

    Raceface Turbine - Ring compatibility?

Just wondered if anyone else on here has had problems sourcing a replacement chainring (middle) for their Turbine's? I thought as long as the BCD was the same it would be OK, so I ordered a four bolt 104BCD Deore 32T ring, but when I tried to fit it the curvature of the inner ring attachment...

Stolen bike.....then i see someone riding it....

Funny, it was the other way round for me. Middle of Summer, came out of McDonalds at about 8pm where I worked at the weekends, I was 16, and found two lads standing next to my pride & joy - a deep metallic red Peugeot racing bike. Older lad said 'this is my brothers bike, it was stolen...

    raceface turbine cranks

Just looked through all four pages of this thread, and beginning to think that my Turbines are some kind of 'freak' cranks, as all of these on here are 5 bolt, and mine are 4 bolt... any ideas??? Were 4-bolt a later model, or just not that popular?

Correct Bottom Bracket for a 1991 Cinder Cone???

OK, well you're dam close with that weight! Including the three little external o-rings each side :!: the whole gubbins come in at 345g. Got the verniers out again and the axle is 128.93mm..., so do you reckon the 127mm is OK? I hope so as that's the longest they make on a 68mm shell...

Correct Bottom Bracket for a 1991 Cinder Cone???

Thought I'd add to this old post rather than create a new one on the same subject... Having removed the BB assembly (with the help of a piece of copper tube and a home made pin spanner  ), I noticed that it was the spindle that was the culprit - badly pitted. Bearings (caged) seemed...

    Old Kona BB help please

Right, so if I don't mind potentially damaging it, go with the drift option. I suppose the problem with that is I won't know if I'll mind until after I've opened it up and seen what's inside  I've seen a c spanner advertised for under a tenner, says its double ended - 69-76mm and...

    Old Kona BB help please

Well, after almost 20 years service, I think the old BB in my 1991 Cinder Cone has finally called it a day. Surprised it lasted this long really, though it did get regular greasings via the grease port. When spinning cranks with chain off and holding seat tube there's a definate roughness /...
