I think these are the first production carbon fiber mountain bikes and one of if not the first production E-Stay 1989 Kestrel MXZ - Carbon Fiber I finished this some time ago. I went in a couple of directions for this build. It was sold as a frame only so I figured I could take some liberties...

This one is a top restoration. I think these bikes are great. There are a few reasons why: > All handmade > Beautifully welded > Joe Breeze designed > Came with top components Can't wait to see how this one turns out.

Here is my 1988 original factory sharpie decorated Wicked Fat Chance. The colours have lasted a long time with very little to no fading. It is clear coated over the decoration. More photos here: viewtopic.php?t=205554

Just an idea but you might want to connect and see Frank The Welder in southern Vermont, might be fun. He is a nice guy. http://www.frankthewelder.com/ Ride along Lake Champlain in Burlington. Nice long bike path...not mountain but nice nonetheless. It is a beautiful place.
