    Suntour XCT

I have just got back from riding on a 1989 Raleigh Team MTB. The simplicity of this makes me smile. Anyway I was pondering raising funds for a new project. Hence What is the groupset worth? Any ideas? Crank: Suntour/Sakae XCT Front mech: Suntour XCT Rear mech: Suntour XCT Gear shifters: Suntour...

Project Cindy, single speed cruiser build

Still following. I have been doing my first frame re-spray, my Marin Palisades Trail is going AA van yellow. All good until final paint coat before clear coat....suddenly run city! But I hadn't planned on doing it until this thread and it's been fun. So thanks for the inspiration. Janners

    Kona Seat Post Clamp

This came off a 94 Kona Hahanna which I no longer have, hence not really useful to me. £8.00 includes UK postage.

    Raleigh Team Banana?

I have been offered this but what sort of money is it worth? Is it £100 in half decent condition? All I know is what you see and that it needs peddles. I have worked out it is probably 1990. Did it have wheels that were not 26"?

Why does the Specialized 1996 Stumpjumper A1 FS.......

D8mok, I was actually thinking of the hardtail, but maybe yours adds to my point. As another example retro Konas have quite a following, retro Marins have quite a following, both groups of enthusiasts are really active. Now I might have missed it but I just don't see the same activity levels on...

Why does the Specialized 1996 Stumpjumper A1 FS.......

I was looking at what they have sold for. The occasional ones that have popped up over the last 6 months or so just don't appear to make any money. Perhaps it's just coincidence. I shall investigate further. Janners.

Rock Shox Judy XC 1st Generation Rebuild head scratch!

The credit really goes to the other folks on here who have posted in the past. Without them it would have been a lot more time consuming.

Why does the Specialized 1996 Stumpjumper A1 FS.......

appear to be unloved? They just don't appear to be "In" whatever "In" is. Any ideas? Have I missed something? Do they snap or something? One very confused Janners

Rock Shox Judy XC 1st Generation Rebuild head scratch!

The damper is now filled, reassembly was quite straight forward. I used the plastic strip that came off the sticky bit of an envelope to let the excess oil out as I pushed the last seal in place. Waiting on the grease so I can reassemble the shocks. sold the frame I was going to put them on, so...

Rock Shox Judy XC 1st Generation Rebuild head scratch!

I spent ages trying to find the circlip mentioned in the Rockshox service manual damper addendum. Eventually it occurred to me I didn't have one because my outer casing is 1 piece molded plastic. Oh well, an hour of head scratching for nothing. :D

Rock Shox Judy XC 1st Generation Rebuild head scratch!

So I now have everything laid out. Decided to give the damper a "push" to see how it came apart, well that was easy. I can't see any nicks in anything and it's still moist so there was a smidge of oil in there. Which, if it hasn't been touched or refilled in nearly a quarter of a century...

Much reading later....take damper apart and see what I find.

Resolved the spacer issue, RVA had the answer. The replacement elastomers are longer, hence 5 in each stack instead of 6, thus a spare spacer each side. Damper next.....

Rock Shox Judy XC 1st Generation Rebuild head scratch!

Not quite my ride...but a bit of it. I have combed the archives on here, downloaded the service guide (and got so far with that), I have watched videos...they all appear to take them apart, then end! So I here I am stripped, cleaned and reassembly time. Events so far. Rockshox Judy XC 1st...

Project Marin Palisades Trail budget buy.

Check out the chain above, and look at it now. An overnight soak in oxalic acid, a rinse and scub with brush. Happy with those results. As the bike is now being stripped and rebuilt I am going to use the chain to make an oversize chain whip (bent a normal one) to remove a stubborn locking nut on...
