    1985 Peugeot identification. PY10 LS?

Definitely a repaint. Chrome on the chainstay should extend to whole dropout and about 3 inches up seat stay. Peugeot also lacquered over their Peugeot transfers so since they are missing it is a repaint

Knights / Reynolds 753 - any background info appreciated

Re: Sorry for the passing of your Dad. Looking a the 753 badge and the Reynolds forkcrown, I would date that from around 1989 at the oldest but most likely it is from the early '90s. You need to put the seat up asap since the aero part of the seat pin is below the lug top. Hopefully it isn't...

    Joe Waugh with Mudguard eyelets?

Re: That's funny... he had two because one was stolen and I remember at least one being blue! I think the other was gray

    Joe Waugh with Mudguard eyelets?

Re: When I bought my Joe Waugh in 1988 you could specify pretty much anything you wanted and could afford. My Optometrist actually bought a Gold Medal deluxe and had mudgard eyes added as he only had one bike and wanted to add guards in winter. So this frame you are looking at is legit. What...

    peugeot vitus 979 duralinox

Re: That's an original PX10DU in the Bronze colour only available to Peugeot. The plastic badges date it to mid '80s. What size is it? The little circle on the lhs of the head tube has the size cast in it. I'm guessing you are in the UK? Price wise, as a bike it's worth £200-300. Split for...

Identifying Classic Ribble and Dawes 531 - can you help?

Re: That "Ribble" is a Peugeot. Probably a 531PRO frame. Is there chrome under the paint on the front forks? It looks like a respray for sure. You can tell its a Peugeot because it has Simplex ends, shot-in seat stays and a pump peg. Probably around 1988 or 89

    PDM Concorde Team Issue

Re: What make of frame ends are on the frame? My Squadra has Campag ends but internal cable. Mine us from 1988 Later Squadras used Ultech labeled ends.

    Vintage Look bike

Re: I'm surprised nobody is commenting on the bmx seat! My guess is the frame ends had the eyelets cast on and weren't removed. Shimano made vertical ends with eyelets.... Still weird!

    1988 Concorde Squadra PDM

Re: Re: Mine had Record Delta on it and was sold by a dales in Glasgow. Rusty Bodie - what shop did you work in? The Concorde frames were distributed by the guy who sold Ultimate clothing. His name was Douglas Vance if I remember.... He tried to get us to sell them but they were almost £600...

    How new is retro?

Re: Interesting perspectives... I always felt my late '80s bikes were retro. That's when I raced and worked in the trade but looking at my 2005 S-Works and even the Bianchi and Colnago and comparing them with today's new bikes makes me feel they are becoming retro. I guess anything with...

    How new is retro?

So, I have a 2005 S-Works with 9 speed Dura Ace on my basement trainer as well as a Bianchi 928 and Colnago C50, both with Dura Ace 7800. All beautiful bikes and still super capable but definitely not as retro as my Joe Waugh, Concorde Squadra or the brace of Vitus 979 I have. Sitting on the...

WTB : Mavic 430 SSC brakes

Re: They were rare back in the day but I can't believe that they all disappeared. We must have sold at leastb5bsets from our shop back in 88/89. I'm sure there must be some hiding away in garages and garden sheds all over the UK

WTB : Mavic 430 SSC brakes

AAARRGHHH! Have I got the age all wrong?

Re: It sounds like you have a French style braze on. Totally different than the Campag or Shimano ones that use a bracket. It is basically like a water bottle boss brazed onto the side of the seat tube. Very prevalent in mid '80s Peugeots. Simplex (Spidel, Gipiemme, all rebranded simplex) and...

    Colnago C50 Crono

It's a long shot but I'm looking for a Colnago C50 Crono time trial frame. I ride a 52S (56 traditional) road frame so would be looking for a 52-54 for the time trial bike. Anybody?

A couple of my "old" bikes

Thought I would post these up. 1st is my Concorde Squadra (stripped for safe keeping back in 2003) next up my mystery Gitane. Any idea which model? The wheels are NOT for it!
