'90 Zolatone Marin Pine Mountain restoration - FINISHED!!!

Re: '91 Zolatone Marin Pine Mountain restoration - FINISHED! That was a pretty rude way of telling you that (for the sake of showing off the bike anyway) the seat should be dead level, and an imaginary line drawn up the centre of the seat post should pass through the middle of the top of the...

Cranks and chain slip when applying torque pedalling hard

Re: Cranks and chain slip when applying torque pedalling har Can you post a picture with the chain cross-geared, small chainring to smallest cog? With the chain on the smallest cog at the back, do both pulley wheels and the smallest cog line up vertically? Is there any slack in your rear...

Klein Special, is it an Attitude?

Good point, a 2002 frame would have had rear facing "micro-dropouts" not those big chunky track-ends in the picture, very strange!

Klein Special, is it an Attitude?

The Attitude I owned wasy back in the mists of 1993 had a serial number on the drive side dropout (and one on the fork dropout too). Could the "Special" be indicative of the fcatory re-paint service KLEIN used to offer, just a shot in the dark, with all the colour options they used to have, who...

    Dave Yates 853

lol at my "fram" typo, stupid apple keyboard. My point was that you wouldn't be able to change the head angle enough for it to be visibly wrong without some quite obvious tube deformity/breakage :

If it's suffered a serious front end impact there will be small bulges on the underside of the downtube, along with cracked or missing paint. You couldn't however, significantly change the headtube angle of a steel fram by crashing it unless you actually bent or broke one of the main tubes. I...

1995 Xizang decal set (updated with pic)

It's true, they are getting on in years, but I've yet to have problems with vintage decals that use this system of a backing sheet and a protective layer, and I've spent more than I care to think about on decal sets over the years. The people I bought these off originally on eBay had quite a few...

Deore XT 732 Hub, M737 8 Speed Cassette..

Yes, freehub swap needed, you simply do not have the width for 8 cogs. On a positive note it's an easy job (does require minor wheel re-dishing), and once it's done you can run 8 and 9 speed cassettes.

Help required re. Freehub body on 7 speed XT730

In addition to what hamster said, I actually put an 8 speed STX RC freehub body onto my 7 speed XT hub with no problems, I had to re-dish the wheel a little bit, so if you're not comfortable with that, let your LBS do it for you.

Pop! - there goes another Air-B inner tube.

If you want to run a lightweight tube, the Bontrager RXL butyl tubes are light, reasonably priced and durable. I raced them all last summer without a single flat.

    'Seinfeld's' Klein Pinnacle

That's actually not a bad price. Not sure about the $100 value on professional boxing up though, we charge $30 for that service in our shop, and I've rarely seen it done better.

    Nobody makes cool stuff now

"Hey there Tune, Cooks Bros called, they want their cranks back..." Seriously though, lots of cool stuff is still made (if you have the $$$). Check out Bike Rumor, they have cool new boutique parts daily. Not that any of that stuff works any better than good old Shimano IMHO.

    Worst rigid MTB ever ?

The full rigid Klein Attitude wasn't great over stutter bumps, roots etc. Fast technical descents were kind of scary. Kona's with Project 2 forks were a great handling bike but lacking in front end compliance which I personally found tiring after more than a couple of hours of technical trails...

SHIPPING a complete bike from CANADA to London?

I looked into shipping my fuel ex from Canada to Uk last year, the quotes I got from Purolator/UPS/Canpar were all $1000 +. It would probably be cheaper to buy a cheap round trip ticket and collect it. FWIW I believe a complete bike in box now exceeds Canada Post's maximum dimensions.
