Neglected Koga Miyata Road Winner (1979).

Looks great. Koga's catalogue archive helpfully goes back to 1976: https://www.koga.com/en/service/brochures What are the date codes on the components? https://www.pedalpedlar.co.uk/blogs/thejournal/14852501-vintage-bike-dating-pt1-shimano-date-codes

    Retrobike Touring.

I'd look for whichever is in the best condition, i.e. least wear in bushes and pulleys. All else being equal, and if it's for roughly the right chain width and will cover the range of sprockets, I'd probably go LX too.

1991 Raleigh Peak, & 1991 Raleigh Ravine Latest..

Sheldon's site suggests you should be àble to do 8 or 9 without changing the freehub body. Could be a simpler option. https://www.sheldonbrown.com/k7.html#bodycompat

Uncover girl and the MTB Legacy Archive

I've spent some happy hours reading through the archives on Charlie's site over the last couple of weeks. Really good stuff. Brings the early Marin County days to life.

    Tootyred's Feedback

Bought a Nitto stem (a thing of beauty!) and a couple of Continental tyres. Couple of free bits kindly thrown in. All arrived quickly and very happy, as last time. Cheers.

    Reduced Clearing the bench...updated 20th June 23

Is it the Nitto dirt drop that's gone? If not, I'd like it. Will drop a PM in case. Cheers.

Still a great reference point for possible future frame renovation. Prismatic Powders have a good range and may have something similar. Thanks

That's a very pleasing purple. Do you have the RAL number or paint / powder code for it?

    Show us your BREEZER

@Repack Rider - thanks for sharing this link. Some brilliant info there: I'm looking forward to spending some time reading through it. Posts from MTB royalty like yourself, and from Joe on page one of this thread, is just one of the many reasons I love this forum!

Karma Ant's 2023 New Years Day Giveaway - We have a winner - Synthiaks

I'm also failing badly on the bonus questions but did crack a Brazil nut without mashing it into a thousand pieces earlier, so not all bad.

Or are we talking about Gonzo journalism in the style of Hunter S Thompson: immersive, subjective, wild...? Or what @Matttymm said :) .

    Koga Miyata Ridge Runner (1986)

Very nice indeed. I wasn't familiar with these steel Terraliners: 700c wheels and typical top-quality frame. Reminds me a little of the Kuwahara Pacer, another good looking 700c machine with Ishiwata tubing.

    Koga Miyata Ridge Runner (1986)

A modicum of progress this weekend. The replacement BB axle for the 70mm shell turned up after a long delay in the post. It did the job of allowing the lock ring to fit on to the adjustable BB cup. It's a cheap Oxford branded one and doesn't feel that smooth fitted. Not sure if use will fix...

It is ... it isn't ... it is ... an Sbike!

Now is the perfect time :) . Worthy of a whole other thread: 'Most enduring half-finished builds or Retrobike Projects Anonymous'. I blame the fact that it's much quicker to think of a thing than it is to do a thing. It would take me a while to list the frames, wheelsets and other bits I have...
