Re: onetwentyeight's custom crosser I'll ask my friend who built the frame if he remembers what was used where. It's been long enough that I dont recall :)

Thanks! Its raining here in San Francisco again, so this bike has been seeing a bit more use as it's the only bike I own that has fenders. I love how it handles.

try filling the king hubs with heavy mineral oil. It should quiet them down substantially without compromising much of anything.

1970 Jack Taylor Tour of Britain Rebuild

I did get home safely, though I did have to stop to fix a flat. Thank you. Jack Taylor has a cult following here in SF, though they were based out of Stockton on Tees (I say they as they were 3 brothers, Norm, Ken, and Jack). You can find a lot of history and photos here...

1970 Jack Taylor Tour of Britain Rebuild

You're welcome. As an update I took the bike out on Saturday to a wedding, as the wedding was for a cyclist couple and they wanted a group ride to the ceremony. As the reception ended a few of us decided to take a bottle of expensive burbon and climb the nearest peak to watch the sunset...

I used an asymmetrical phil wood with campy taper. 115-118 works for a double, 120-121 for a triple

I find the shifting to be pretty good so far. I do find my self utilizing a wider range in the cassette before shifting as there is less overlap, and basically dropping into the little ring when I hit a climb, and the big ring for descents. as I result I dont find myself in situations where I...

Yes it is. I work for an Ibis dealer so I put it on pre order almost as soon as they announced it. I took a few more photos while riding in the Marin Headlands yesterday.

Braze-on mech cable rubbing on frame.

if you're worried about rubbing, get a section of derailleur housing and with a razor blade whittle away the plastic outer till you can cut out a short section of the inner liner. I do that all the time.

    Fixed Gear fans only!

the 3rensho and rossin had nitto bars, everything else is old school steel cinelli, with the engraved crest. I also have one of the old cinelli stems with the cloisonee badge. They are fun for alleycats, but around here I find I do better with my cross bike, more gears for climbing, stronger...

sure. the frame is 56.5 cm square with a 74 degree st angle and 73 ht. i requested top tube routing with full housing to the rear derailleur down the chainstay. There are no provisions for a front derailleur. it was made by a good friend of mine about a year and a half ago. hes been...

Heh. I dont really go to bikeforums anymore. Work and life has kept me busy and I dont really know anyone on there these days. Id rather ride than talk about bikes, I've got to do that 9 hours a day, 5 days a week anyway. I'm only online now as I banged my elbow really hard when a tourist...

No worries. I wanted to run tubeless tires and didnt want black wheels. This was pretty much the only option I had besides running a conversion kit. I couldnt even find silver tubeless rims to build my own wheels with. The cobalts are a bit flashier than I normally go for but they've grown...

Packing a frame for postage. Advice please.

if you run discs dont forget to shove something in the caliper incase the lever gets squeezed when then front wheel is off. I generally remove the rear derailleur from the frame to prevent the hanger from getting bent, and will zip tie the chain to the chainstay (protected by bubble wrap,) and...
