Re: You're probably already aware of this but WD40 isn't a very good penetrant. A good quality, proper penetrating oil such as Penol may give better results, or the old homemade favorite was always a 50/50 mix of ATF and Acetone in a squirty bottle. Works wonders compared to WD40 and a lot...

You could remove some material from the seat with a file, I've done it before and it isn't very difficult. Just remember to do so slowly and carefully as you can't put the steel back on.
