    1987 Concorde Columbo Lo Pro

Tri bars are back on and it''s had a wipe down with a damp cloth. There''s a few extra scuffs and scrapes under the grime. The components are in better nick than I thought and the chrome isn't too far gone to bring back.

    1987 Concorde Columbo Lo Pro

Always wanted a six speed Dura ace single lever ( if they did them? ), but didn't think it would work very well with running through the down tube and also on a mallard freewheel so I didn't bother. I've no idea what this lever is, but I hate it. I ran Cinelli cork tape on its Cinelli Tempo bars...

    1987 Concorde Columbo Lo Pro

Re: Re: Mike, I'm having second thoughts about those tri bars now. Might be the seat that made it all look wrong. Back in the day I just hammered it up the hills and that gearing was fine. It was just the friction down tube shifting that let it down as it went all wobbly when you took a hand...

    1987 Concorde Columbo Lo Pro

Well spotted. I stuck that SLX one straight over the top of the Aelle one when I was 16. Not sure if I should peel it off now? The horrible cheap Campagnolo stickers were added at the same time along with my name lettered down the underside of the downtube, though this has vanished mysteriously...

    1987 Concorde Columbo Lo Pro

Re: Re: Ha! It sat in the bike shop where my other road bike was built ( MB Dronfield ) with a 260 quid ono price tag on it for over a year and nobody was bothered. It was them that said to skip it!

    1987 Concorde Columbo Lo Pro

A couple more pictures from tonight. Saddle is now swapped to a later Flite and the ugly Tri bars have been removed. Front tub won't inflate any more and bike now needs 20 years of garage grime washing off before the rebuild begins. Two tubs, a set of inner and outer cables, fresh cork tape and...

    1987 Concorde Columbo Lo Pro

Thanks. I'm still surprised that my two old bikes have got a good reception on here. Last year before I discovered Retro bike they were just two old relics from the past hung in the garage gathering dust. I even tried selling the Lo pro about 15 years ago and was told it was worthless and that I...

    Columbus MS tubing

Re: Re: Thanks. I've already got some Michelin hi lites sorted to make it look all '93 again. Silver post sounds good too. I'll look out for a long aero one in 25mm, as I've only seen short Campag logo'd ones so far. I also fancy a Flite titanium for it, as its Vetta SL is a bit tatty now, but...

A couple more pics of my Multishape MB before the restoration begins. Not even had a proper wash yet.

    Alternative 90's headset?

Thanks. I'd better measure the stack height of this Veloce one and see what will work. Good info that matey.

Yeah. My modern Carrera won't go that low. The tops of the MB's bars are about an inch lower than full drop on the Carrera. A bit of rake soon adds some attitude to a bike. All mine are slammed at the front end for no other reason than it looking cool. About time I grew up eh?

    Columbus MS tubing

Thanks, but it already has a few purple bits, so I'll go steady with the extras. The purple looks really good against the lime green and pale yellow. Can't wait to get it riding again. It was damn fast when I was a lad. ...Luke.

    1987 Concorde Columbo Lo Pro

This is my old Lo pro that I've owned since I was 15, back in 1992! It''s a Columbus Aelle frameset which is weird in that it has concealed gear cables routed through its down tube, but it has its rear brake cable routed externally along its top tube. This bike hasn't turned a wheel since '94...

    Columbus MS tubing

Finally got posting pictures sorted. Here is my 23 year old unrestored MB Dronfield with its Columbus Multishape frame. Recomissioning begins in the next few weeks with an upgrade to Record as I go. This will end up the bike it always should have been if I had the money, but as I was only 16...

    Alternative 90's headset?

This is the bike I'm after a decent headset for. Slowly I'm upgrading the original groupset to Record, but I still think a Mavic or Miche would suit it with it being a bit quirky.

    Alternative 90's headset?

Re: Re: Hi Mike, i'm struggling with the photos. I've taken a few, but don't seem to be able to post them as the files are too big. I'll have another attempt this week and thanks again. Kermitgreenkona, Yes, I like the look of that Sachs one too, but the Mavic and Miche ones look like they'd...

    Alternative 90's headset?

Re: Did wonder about that. Yours looks nice and old school without that logo. Thanks for that and I can get one of those easily and know that the quality is good.

    Alternative 90's headset?

Re: Thanks for the reply. Lo pro is a Concorde and has Dura ace rear mech and single chainset, but has Record headset, hubs and bottom bracket. This headset's been in since '91, so didn't really want to rob it and it's got no spanner rash either. Sensible thing or no brainer like you said was...

    Alternative 90's headset?

Hi, just collecting some 90''s parts up for my 1993 M and B Dronfield and I need a nice headset. The bike has a worn out Veloce one. I've decided to upgrade the group set from Veloce to Record, but can't believe how much a used 93 one is! Anyway...this got me looking at alternatives. I can get...

Re: Tried to post pictures, but what a load of hassle. It just says the file size is too large and with me being a techno Phobe idiot, it''s beat me  . I'll get a mate to sort it this week.
