There seems to be lots of confusion as to what exactly is on the 1MB. Mine are metal are really moto - style: bomb proof. And once I added a Force 40 carrier to the front brake they stop as well as any modern bike. But with way more panache. The shifters are metal as well and do OK for...
Re: Mine are good too
Like most index shifting system, lube on the chain is important. In the case of my Campy stuff it seems to have to be dripping with oil to work decently. When it is clean and oily it shifts pretty well. No SRAM, but decent.
Well then soneone's got soma 'splainin' to do - the "Olympus" parts that my 1MB supposedly was equipped with are NOT plastic. Shifters and brakes are black metal. Real solid. Hugely overengineered/overbuilt.
AWESOME! Thanks for the info and the link. I knew there had to be someone who has seen this thing. I vaguely recall the designation 1MB now that I think about it... Thanks!!
Interesting. The Wolber AT18 on my Campy equipped Cannondale are Presta. Must be the roadie influence. Or maybe the Italians are smarter than the British.
Funny you should mention the Veyron. Apparently the regular (schraeder) car valves could not keep the air pressure in the tires due to centripetal force so the Bugatti engineers had to install an extra set of springs inside the wheel to keep the pressure in. Of course a Presta style valve...
If you look at Mavic's latest catalogue you will find that all their MTB wheels use 6.5mm holes. Yup - presta. My Deemax's certainly are as are all my other Mavic rims.
