    New here. Vitus SuperVitus 980

Re: Re: I had it in my head somewhere that it was at least sold through British Eagle although I wasn’t sure if they made their frames or bought them in? Either way I’ve never found a catalogue from around 88-90 to check. Rich

Re: Wow - been a long time since I posted on this thread. That Peugeot in the link in the post above is lovely isn't it, and 9.8kg in such a big frame! Anyway, my Vitus is still going strong. Had a few adjustments over the last couple of years. Now has a longer stem, wider, 'ergo,' bars...

Shimano Deore DX ST-M071 Left Shifter

Re: Hi, Thanks for the reply. I think I have now agreed to buy a pair from prof farnsworth. Can I come back to you if that falls through for any reason? Alternatively, perhaps if you have a single left one we could make up a pair between us to move on to someone else? Rich

    Uniglide/Hyperglide Questions

Re: The derailleur works fine but the indexing on the shifter doesn't work right with the biggest gear on the cassette. Can either set it so it won't climb on to that one or won't fall off it but not both. Got a 7speed lever on the way anyway. Rich

    Uniglide/Hyperglide Questions

Re: Just to update this. Bought a NOS early hyperglide body with the uniglide and hyperglide threading to give me the option to put the old cassette back on if I had problems. 7speed 13-30 HG cassette on and just enough clearance to the chain stay for it to all work. Currently running friction...

    Uniglide/Hyperglide Questions

I could, but Bristol is a bit hilly and apart from the UG cassette being a bit knackered, I'm looking to shorten the gearing a bit as I'm just not fit enough to handle 42-28, hence new chain rings and a 13-30 to at least give me 40-30 for the hills! Hoping that the rd-1050 will handle the 30t...

    Uniglide/Hyperglide Questions

Is there any difference between free hubs, worth looking for a higher quality one or are they all comparable? Hyperglide cassette 13-30 on order, just need to order a free hub now. Regs, Rich

    Uniglide/Hyperglide Questions

Hi All, Sorry to question a topic that seems to have been talked about a lot, but I'm still not clear and have been thrown even more questions by a LBS. I currently have full 1050 1st gen 105 group set with 6x2 SIS and all pretty worn out from commuting. It's time to refresh things...

    New here. Vitus SuperVitus 980

Re: Yeah, when I started this thread I'd just moved to Bristol and I was getting used to riding a lot more miles and more regular than ever before. It left me a bit unsure about the frame size and whether it worked for me. I still think that it was a bargain for the money I paid, but I don't...

    New here. Vitus SuperVitus 980

Re: Well, let's rescue this from the depths! Since my last update there have been new tubes, and more importantly 25c Vitoria clinchers which have made an amazing difference to comfort, grip and speed. Not only that but I've had no punctures since where I was having one a fortnight or so...

    British Eagle with Pics !!

Re: Do you happen to know if British eagle were also an outlet for Vitus steel frames in the mid-late 80s? I have a Vitus decaled, sv980 frame which has a label on the seat tube saying British eagle cycles, Powys, who I assumed to be the seller or builder since it turned up near London so I...
