    90's Raleigh Amazon

Re: Mine is still around and in use. I picked up an unloved Diamondback for mild off roading so the Amazon is in use as a single speed urban bike. Bullhorn bars, and Schwalbe city jet tyres have been added since the last time I posted. the cables are a bit long as I keep experimenting with...

Liking those brakes. I should fit a Shimano STX RC or Deore on the rear of mine. What are the pads you are using?

    90's Raleigh Amazon

Re: CezarB Your Amazon gets better every time I see it. It fair warms my heart. :) I haven't been riding too much this year. I've had a frozen shoulder for over a year but it's never given me that much trouble until recently. Since I got over a bout of New-Year bloke flu it's been almost...

    90's Raleigh Amazon

Re: I still have the original stem on mine and considered spraying it. I cleaned it up to get al the paint off and liked the way it looked in bare metal. So, it stayed that way and I give it a wipe over with some ACF50 on a rag every few months. :)

    90's Raleigh Amazon

Thanks, that's the look I was hoping for, a kind of off-road-ish path racer. :) There's hope yet, mate. This paint wasn't that good. There are areas where it had flaked off completely but I touched them in with a Halfords matte black rattle can. There are also some small areas where I simply...

    90's Raleigh Amazon

Thanks for saving and loving anoher of these clunkers. I've loved reading about your Amazon and its transformation. I have a modified Raleigh Amazon too. In essence it's this bicycle that has resurrected my passion for cycling. A knee injury in 2004 meant that by 2010 I gave in to the...

    1995 Saracen Tufftrax - Brighton - SOLD!

D'oh! I just realised I didn't even put the frame size in the original post! It was sold by Saracen as a 19" frame back in 1995.

    1995 Saracen Tufftrax - Brighton - SOLD!

Just an inch too big for urbanfireblade so it's still up for grabs. I'd rather it sold on here to someone who knows what it is rather than in the free ads to someone wanting just a cheap MTB.

    1995 Saracen Tufftrax - Brighton - SOLD!

This is my long term Saracen Tufftrax, owned by me from new. I have put a lot of miles on this bike and it has been properly serviced and repaired when necessary, always with original or better parts. The groupset is basically Shimano STX. The derailieur and pedal crank are the originals...

    13000+ mile 1995 Saracen

Thanks for the feedback guys. Very much appreciated. It's been very easy to live with and fix in that time. Regular lubing, applications of WD40 and replacing stuff just before it breaks (usually) has been the order of the day. It'll never be everyone's cup of char and it sure ain't pretty...

    13000+ mile 1995 Saracen

This is my 1995 Saracen Tufftrax, one of the British made ones and the low end of their top line at the time. 531 tubing and a very nicely constructed frameset. It was a bike I covetted when skint and won in a competition in a bicycle magazine that lasted only a few issues. I used it...
