    Calling all Diamond Back experts...

Yeah, I never been one to worry about where a frame was made; I've been riding Surlys for years. It just struck me that the seller was misleading folks by listing it as English-made when it wasn't. I note he has now re-listed the bike and removed all reference to being made in England. Hehe. Win.

    Calling all Diamond Back experts...

Re: Yeah, I was thinking that I never saw Nick Craig racing a Topanga in the XC races way back when! After the rather rude response from the seller it was quite clear he knew he was right. Still, I know this bike was a little small for me but I didn't want the guy to sell the bike with such a...

    Calling all Diamond Back experts...

Thanks, Michael. You're certainly backing up what I remember of DB back in the day. The seller seemed quite offended at my suggestion that Diamond Back was a US company and their bikes were made in the Far East! I don't think I'll be bidding... Alex.

    Calling all Diamond Back experts...

Hi everyone, I'm interested in buying an old Topanga (pre-1996, I think) from the TradeMe auction site over here in NZ. The seller lists the bike as being made in England, but I'm not convinced; I thought they were all made in the far east. The seller is sure it was made in England to BS 6102...

    Pace RC300 19"

Thanks Kestonian! I had a silver one, too, but that got sold in 2005. I definitely prefer the red, though :-)

    Pace RC300 19"

Hi all. Having never posted a bike on here I thought I'd roll my mine in front of the camera, and up the numbers of red frames on here! I purchased this new in 2004, and it has done 30 miles or so since then. Specification: M960 XTR groupset with M965 wheel set with Contintal a Twister tubeless...

    Any ideas what this is?

I've had a cursory glance there, yeah, there's heaps to trawl through! Just hoping someone would recognise the forks in particular, seem pretty distinctive. Thanks for the link.

Can anyone identify this bike? I reckon it's French, but of course I coulc be totally wrong. The fork seem pretty distinctive, maybe 1950's?

Fork length for a '95 Kona

cheers, glad I don't have to fork out for another pair (pardon the pun). I think I bought them around 99/00 and strppied them back/when the paint got bad. Just got to apply some fresh. I'm guessing black is the way to go, but weren't they like a bronzy colour in the mid '90's?

Modern parts that get the retro nod

Thanks for the tips, folks. A lot of fodder there that would look really good. I'm currently running stuff out of the spares bin - Middleburn Duo in black and silver, Pace RC45 pewter stem, Hope Aheadset, XT thumbies, 1997 XTR hubs with Mavic silver ceramic rims (with the 'digital' style writing...

Modern parts that get the retro nod

Living as I am in NZ, you're more likely to find a dodo than decent old school parts (or if you do, they're likely to have been thrashed, munted, then stored in the shed since). If it ain't carbon and sporting the latest double-chainring 31.8 baas down here, then it ain't no good. Or that is the...

Fork length for a '95 Kona

Hi All, Anyone know what the axle-crown measurement would have been on the Marzocchi suspension forks fitted in the Kona catalogue? I've fitted a slightly more recent P2 in the absence of such a fork, and am hoping it hasn't fudged the geometry. Current A-C is 410mm. Cheers. Al.

    Any RetroKiwis out there?

Just wondering whether there were any NZ folk out there in the Wellington area? Everyone over here seems to lust after carbon disposable rides, so when they inevitably break (or a new one comes out) they just buy a whole new one. Could use some insider info on a few parts for my 1995 Hei Hei...
