Bike insurance such as from British Cycling will cover your bike in a locked premises, when locked up outside with an approved lock during daylight (so not too specific then!) or if violence is used to obtain it, i.e. if some scally scum mugs you at a red light. I use Pavillion Insurance who I found out about through British Cycling. They're premiums are less than 10% of the value of the bike (depending where you are...) and they seem geared up to deal specifically with bikes, which can't be bad. They're here...
