Re: The frame, swingarm and fork lowers cost me £25 all in to be powdercoated so why not? Building the wheels was a fun hour spent building a pair of wheels. They are only cheap Deore hubs, whats the big deal? If they were Hope or CK then I would agree but for a little project that I didn't...

Re: Shock running on this is 200x57mm. I would take £16 inc postage for the two Enduro KP6A MAX bearings, if you wanted them.

    Marin B17 2000 Seatpost Size??

Re: Just to muddy the water... I have a 2000 B-17 and it uses a 27.2 seatpost. And a 200x57 rear shock.

Re: Starting to look a bit more like a bike now. 180mm discs, 11-42 cassette.

Re: 465mm from centre of axle to centre of top pivot point, in a straight line along the top of the swingarm. If that makes sense.

Re: Yes but only if you are not careful.Slice orund them with a blade first. Even if you get a ragged edge it will be hidden by the new bottom bracket and headset.

Re: No threads to clean up. I used some old bottom bracket cups to protect the threads, some old headset cups to keep that clean. All other threads I stuck bolts in (bottle mounts etc). The powder coat guys masked all bearing surfaces so no clean up at all. Where do you want me to measure the...

Re: Ok, time to put some facts out there, for some of the doubters. The idea was always to run a 650b setup on this bike. I was informed initially that a) it wouldn't work and b) I would have trouble fitting tyres, there would be clearance issues. Well, after trying several different tyres I...

Re: So now onto the frame build up. First thing, attach swing arm and mount rear shock. This is a Fox Float RP2 in excellent working condition. Again, not the best but will do for the meantime. If anyone is interested it is a 200x57 shock. Its almost starting to look like a bicycle!!

Re: They say imitation is the best form of flattery, or something like that. So I stole Ben's idea with the gear hanger but with a little twist. I polished up all the outside metal but left the inner square with the original blue paint from the 2000 B17 colour scheme, as a little nod to its...

Re: First job, rebuild the front forks. Basic spring forks, easy to strip, easy to service and easy to rebuild. These will do until something better comes along. As it is this build is on a kind of budget so no money for a decent set of Fox just yet. The legs look fantastic in the orange, I'm...

Re: So.... an exciting day today. Todays the day I picked up my frame parts from the powder coaters. Feels like xmas. The next few posts are going to be pic heavy so I apologise for that now. Time to unwrap the clingfilmed beauties.

Re: And I'm sure its 27.2 for the seatpost. Thats the size of the one being fitted and it does fit! Thomson do a really nice 27.2 dropper, fitted a couple and it is a real neat bit of kit but probably a little overkill for this bike. I doubt its going to see too much hardcore downhilling!

Re: Cable stop for front mech has been removed. Check the last pics, the only cable stops are for rear mech and modified stops for hydraulic cables. Yep, you guessed it, thats my workshop.

Re: Last pics of the naked metal. Frame, swingarm and front fork lower legs now in the possession of the local powder coaters, colours picked and now to wait until they are back and I can start the build properly. Have pretty much amassed all the parts needed now so i'm getting a little excited...
