    1960s Edwardes

There isn't a huge difference in the size of the wheels and there is enought adjustment on the brakes. It will make life easier in the long run as you will be able to get tyres more easily. I managed to find some 26" Kenda tyres with an amber wall that look ok, they aren't brilliant quality but...

    Ferris Fixed Wheel

Hello I think it was repainted when my Grandfather got it, not very thickly as you can see the original stickers through the paint. Normally I would have stripped it all and got it painted properly but its History would be lost then. I'm not sure what colour it was originally The bar tape is...

    Ferris Fixed Wheel

Hi, thanks for looking. I've had a little ride and have taken the toe clips off till I'm a bit more used to it. I've never ridden a fixed wheel bike before so it's all new. My Grandfather used it on the road for many years, think I need to be a bit fitter before going far on it.

    Ferris Fixed Wheel

I've finally bot this into a reasonable state worthy of a couple of pictures. I'm not sure of the exact age of the frame but it was owned by Gerry Burgess (who was GB brakes) before my late granfather got it. Must have been made sometime aroung the war though. I would be interested if anyone...

    Hello

I've finally got round to sorting this bike out. I got hold of some Kenda 26x1 1/4 amber wall tyres which are about as close as you can get now. I have stripped and re-greased everything, fitted a better spare bottom bracket spindle and new cotter pins. I have also found some new cloth...

    WONDER lights

I haven't been on here for a while and just spotted this thread. I found my Wonder lights in the garage, I've also got some of the later black ones that looked similar, guess they are the Ever Ready ones.

    Hello

Things have come so far since I was riding, it's about 25 years now ! I realise that riding brakeless is how it's done now but I recon the guy in video could have saved himself and his bike by having at least 1 brake. My ripper wouldn't have lasted 5 mins if I had treated it like that, new...

    Hello

Thats about it although I think you can pedal backwards with a freecoaster and there isn't a brake. I don't think that guy is running any brakes by the look of it !

    Hello

A coaster brake is fitted into the rear hub and is applied when you pedal backwards. Handy as all you need to do is lean on the back foot and the rear wheel is virtually locked. If you position the pedals correctly you can roll backwards without the crank rotating.

    Hello

Cheers for the comments. Yes 3 brakes. Bob Haro thought it was a good idea so I wasn't about to argue ! Coaster useful for doing back hops, kick turns and rolling backwards without the pedals moving. Front brake for front hops etc. I fitted the pots mod and modified the brake to do it so I...

    Hello

Just a quick hello. I registered on here as I am now looking after my Grandfathers road race bike but I used to ride BMX's. I'm lucky that I used to look after them a lot and still have them. The last bike I had was Ripper and apart from a couple of bits and new tyres it's as it was in the...

    Tyres

I'm looking for some amberwall 26x1 1/4 tyres to go on a 1930- 40's racing bike. The only ones I can find in the size are some made for Raleigh. The old Bicycle Company also do some but they are in black only. I really want something new so I can ride the bike safely. Has anyone else found any ?

    Hello

I think that if he was competing it would have been in a club event. I'm guessing the year, he couldn't remember when I asked him.

    Hello

I think the bike my Mum had was just a copy of the Tour of Britian one. I have an advert from 1953 when Tiny Thomas won the Tour of Britian of that year so it must have ben made some time after that. It's mainly blue, there might have been a choice though. I found some info on Ferris here...

    Hello

Hi there. Yes I will take a picture at the weekend. I's got mud guards on it at the moment and a saddle bag suport. I will clean the dust off of it at least. I'm looking for some tyres to go on it as the ones on it are in a bit of a state. The ones on it in the picture are skin walls of...

    Hello

I have just joined up and wanted to say hello. I've always enjoyed cycling and used to ride BMX's during the 80's. My Mother and late Grandfather were keen cyclists and I have recently taken charge of their old bikes. My Mother used to ride a BSA Tour of Britian which is from the early 50's...
