    Saracen project.

For sure, it was actually shifting ok, but wasn't ideal. I think the new BB will be a minimum, this project is going to take a little while, (money, children, wife, work etc) so I've plenty of time to fiddle and fine-tune. The other option was to do away with the front altogether and just have...

    Saracen project.

So it turns out after visiting my buddy at his bike shop that not only is the crank set not original, (which I knew) but it is a 9 speed and didn't fit properly, it was sat slightly too far out from the frame so the front mech was stretching to get the chain on to the big ring. The steering...

    'worthless' old Claud...

No worries about the hijack! I was in the cadets, does that count? The amber-walls are off, boxed and popped in a nice dark corner.... The bike doesn't look half as good mind with solid black rings on, I might get a set of not-so-valuable amber-walls to put on there later...

Not a bad plan, but what about the small patches of exposed metal and rust? Do I attempt to colour match?

She was dead chuffed with it when she got home!! Excellent. Beats her old Apollo Unleashed into a cocked hat! Its like a feather compared. Happy days.

Funnily enough, I did wonder!! They do look dead cool on the bike, but she won't notice the difference... I could always keep them for my Saracen project?

Hi. I was at my good buddies bike shop today (getting another other frame stripped) and he had one in that someone didn't want any more. I am in the process of trying to source a decent runabout for the missus for next year after our second is born.. So he shows me this. Take a look!! It's...

Thanks for the comments. Just a quick couple of pics, all stripped... I think I might get it blasted. I reckon getting all that decent thick paint off by hand will be a right 'mare! And it should make for a nice even base to start putting new paint on. Onward....

SW Ride Diary - open to suggestions.

Hi SW folks, I would be interested in popping along for a meet down here sometime. My 'retro' might not be ready but if I'm allowed to join in on the modern hack... I won't be able to make the next one on 7th but I'll keep the ear to the ground. Cheers DD

Just out of interest... What is the 'canti rule'? (I know what canti's are... but not the rule) Seen it mentioned here and there.

    Work bikes

Mine, (when it was new, about 18 months ago). Looks a lot more 'commutery' now with crud catchers and slicks on it... still love it though.

    Saracen project.

Hi again. Thanks for the responses. I have had a look at the rather excellent archive of catalogs and it is indeed a 1996, it would seem the only year they made the 'force' trax. It would appear to be in the lower mid-range of the 'trax' bikes just above the seemingly more common Back trax...

    Saracen project.

Hi all. I am new here and although I am a lifelong rider/bike lover I have never ventured much into resto'/rebuild. I currently ride a 2011 Claud B Cape Wrath as my everyday bike, I know it might divide opinion, and might be slightly on the heavy side but I really like it, unfortunately it...
