    1988 Panasonic PICS Titanium

Re: Ride Report I can't wait to be able to ride it. I'm trying to source some 600 Ultegra brakes, levers and shifters to complete the group so I can put it all back together and take it for a spin. For some reason it had Shimano 105 brakes and 600 Ultegra aero shifters when it arrived.

    1988 Panasonic PICS Titanium

Re: Re: I actually do know the former national sales manager for Panasonic Bicycles (Norman) here in the USA. He was very helpful in providing many of the catalog archives you see on the web site. You can read more about him here if you haven't already seen it...

    1988 Panasonic PICS Titanium

Well, for now I intend to pick up some 600 Ultegra brakes to replace the 105 units that came on the bike. That will get it fairly consistent overall. Longer term I could see converting it to period correct Dura Ace or perhaps even Campy.

    1988 Panasonic PICS Titanium

It is indeed. Panasonic did that on a couple of models actually.

    1988 Panasonic PICS Titanium

Still in "arrival clean up mode" with a few changes in store but she's a real beauty. What I find most curious is that for several years I have heard/read rumors that Sumitomo had actually built the Titanium frames for Panasonic. While plausible, it does seem a bit strange to me that a...

    NOS Early '90s Panasonic PR-6000

Thanks Gio, the feature is coming right up! Also, I think your intended reserve price seem fair given what the last nice PR-6000 sold for.

    NOS Early '90s Panasonic PR-6000

Hi Bruce, Fantastic looking bike! I suspect it will do well on auction like the prior example. Say, may I use your photos on the Panasonic Bike Museum web site? I can do a brief feature on the bike and post a link to your auction. I have already shared the link on all my social media...

New Old Stock 1989 Panasonic PICS Team Custom

I'm surprised you don't remember those tires. I think you may have even had some like it on your PR-6000? :D

New Old Stock 1989 Panasonic PICS Team Custom

In March or April of last year I was fortune enough to acquire this rare new old stock '89 PICS Team Custom frame and fork. It had been found in a storage barn in German Valley, IL and had belonged to the owner of Naperville Cyclery in Naperville, IL before the shop went out of business in the...

    1991 Panasonic PR-6000 nearly complete

Thank you my friend. When I first started road cycling I remembered all the little customizations that many of the high end bike owners would do. Since I had long dreamed of owning my own PR-6000 I decided to try to build it with the same little details that I thought were "cool" as a young...

    1991 Panasonic PR-6000 nearly complete

Thank you for all the kind words. I can't wait to get it finished off and actually take it for a ride. Given my schedule and the weather here it looks like that is about a week away.

    1991 Panasonic PR-6000 nearly complete

HUGE thanks to Melvin for hooking me up with this frame and fork in the first place! It has taken me forever to complete due to a move, new job and marriage but it is coming together at last. I still need to hook up the derailleurs, shorten the chain and adjust the seat angle but it is awfully...

    1989 Panasonic MC-5500. Very nice!

Yes, that is my MC-5500 that is on eBay. I must apologize for eBay's insane shipping calculations. For some reason it would not let me specify FedEx shipping. Will try to correct that if I decide to relist there. Sadly, there were no e-stay 'Sonics sold in North America. You'll have to look...

New site for Classic steel Stephen Roche bike and frame

I sent Mr. Roche a message in hopes that he might be able to ID the frame for you. Will let you know if I hear anything conclusive back from him.

The French Connection... Japanese style (French-a-sonic?)

You will be happy to hear that the tires and saddle won't be sticking around. I have already replaced the saddle with a NOS Rolls and I'm hunting for some suitable 700x23 gumwalls. :D

The French Connection... Japanese style (French-a-sonic?)

The bike just arrived today and does have a few odd characteristics. For starters, I don't believe I have ever seen internally routed shifter cables on a Panasonic before. Have you?

The French Connection... Japanese style (French-a-sonic?)

I'll be sure to check the tube diameters once the bike arrives. I also suspected the extra decals could have been for extra exposure. Good eyes noticing that the PICS label is indeed on the wrong side of the seat tube. I find that more than a little puzzling as well. With the Japanese'...

The French Connection... Japanese style (French-a-sonic?)

Hi all, You know the story, you've just bought yet another bike you need about as much as another hole in the head. In this case the bike is a 1989 Custom Order Panasonic PICS frame with a full Dura Ace build. The odd part is that the name printed on the top tube is Philippe Lauraire. Now...
