    1987 Saracen Tufftrax

Just spotted this thread. I'd always assumed my Tufftrax was an '88 but it may be an '87 as '88's seem to have been red. Since photo was taken I've removed the prop stand as it never fitted properly and I kept clipping it with the left pedal.

    How did you find retrobike

I was looking for info on my Old Saracen Tufftrax. From folks on the "Early Saracen lover Anonymous" suggested it was an '88. I've since been following on the MTB and Road sections. Looking for stuff on my old Columbia road bike etc.

Screw & Bolt Remover Set £3.99 - Lidl

Just spotted this. And yeah they are really useful. The hole cutting drill is a good piece of kit on it's own. If you see them on offer in Lidl or Aldi (can't remember where I got mine had it about 5 years) get it. I last used mine to remove a door hinge. The slots had been worn down and...

    Puch Super Prima 12

I just spotted this on gumtree http://www.gumtree.com/london/64/64385064.html going for £230 but in excellent condition. This is the same as mine was (I no longer have it as it was eventually used as doner bike for my new frame, if the frame bought in 1982 can still be regarded as new 8) ). Do...

    My '82 Worksop Columbia

Here is my 1982 Columbia made in Worksop. I've been in touch recently with Dave Marsh of http://www.universalcyclecentre.co.uk/ in Rotherham who worked for Carlton Cycles and was one of a group of ex-Carlton guys who built the frame. Jerry Mortimore who runs the...

    Cyclometers?

    "1954 mm 76.9 inches 700 C, 28 x 1 5/8, 29 inch (28 x 1 1/2 F.13 Canada) 622 mm Most newer adult bikes for road use use this size, including most road bikes and hybrids" Quote from Sheldon (http://www.sheldonbrown.com/rim-sizing.html) "29 inch wheels / ISO 622 Main article: 29"er...

    Cyclometers?

I've had these on bikes many years ago but never seen one for 700c wheels. They were made in the day for 27" wheels so would not be accurate for 700c which is 29" I believe. Why not just go for a simple computer. I don't think you'll get much cheaper than this...

    Beautiful, traditional cycling shoes

They do look nice but couldn't justify spending more on shoes than my bikes worth. Come to think of it, nearly what my car's worth for shoes :?

    newbie with a old bike....

I've been away for a week and only just seen your post about frame rusting from the inside. Yes it can if it has been left out as long as you say, 8 years, but it doesn't look like it has been out that long. Has it been under partial cover? When you removed the BB what did it look like...

    newbie with a old bike....

Personally I would replace all the cables, inners and outers, new chain, lube everything. The Bottom Bracket and the stearing will need looking at. Check the wheel spindles. These may need dismantling and regreasing with new bearings as will the pedals. I would get new pedals. Check the...

Can you adjust a Campag Bottom Bracket?

Most LBS's should have them or Halfrauds. I got a set years ago then there were another set in the Aldi toolkit. As for the big spanner in the past I left the fixed cup in place as has been suggested by Steve Kish. I've now got the spanner to fit if I need with the Aldi toolkit. It's an easy...

Can you adjust a Campag Bottom Bracket?

I've just noticed. The photo I attached shows both cups say 1.37 x 24 TPI. If yours says this it's English.

Can you adjust a Campag Bottom Bracket?

Is the fixed cup the same thread as the adjustable cup. ie. can you put either cup in both sides. If you can it's probably Italian or French. See Sheldon. If you can't it's more than likely English. http://www.sheldonbrown.com/gloss_bo-z.html#bottom

Can you adjust a Campag Bottom Bracket?

Just thought. You could try a search on http://velobase.com/Default.aspx for your actual BB. There are photo's and dates for the ones they have on the site. It might be worth a gander. Pete

Can you adjust a Campag Bottom Bracket?

Does you bottom bracket look like this? If it does then adjusting would be no problem if you follow advice from a site like http://www.sheldonbrown.com/tooltips/bbadj.html . You can find a lot from the late Sheldon Brown's site.
