New project: Vicini 1987 / new pics december 14th. (page 2)

Hmmm... Sounds nice. I have a Mavic rear mech on hand to match, but I am on a relly tight budget at the moment, so I'll have to use what I have got. But those Mavic hubs sure are really nice!!! :P Don't worry. The wheels will be Reflex rims, Ritchey WCS spokes w. alloy nipples and a set of...

This sweet little thing just popped up in a box I had lying around. NOS Shimano FD-A105. Much nicer than the Tiagra front derailleur! 8)

Thanks a lot, it's a size 57 cm. It is not visible is these poor quality pictures, but the white paint is actually a wild pearlescent white with a purple-ish effect. Looks crazy in the right light. 8)

So, now I have tried to build it up, just to get an idea of what this bike is like. The black Ksyrium SL wheels are not mine, just to keep the frame off the ground... The size feels right on, the weight feels pretty low, which surprises me a bit. I am still considering if I...

Smallest middle ring for 4 arm cranks?

True, but you can put a 30 or 28 in the small ring position, and then run a 42 in the middle. It won't be a triple setup, but you'll get closer to what you're asking for. :)

    pace & x lite stuff!

No, I don't think I've ever seen anything but 2 different aluminum models from X-Lite. Please correct me if I'm wrong. :)

Is Roox A 'Cool' Brand ?

All Roox products are made in Europe, most still in their original facilities in Austria. So their website says. I had a couple of S4 seatposts back in around 1997, and they were great, and available in A LOT of different sizes. They even still make a 30.4 mm post for old Specialized steel...

Wheel building - advice needed please

http://houseof3d.com/pete/applets/wheel/appwheel.html Seems like a very easy to use spoke calculator. Otherwise, DT Swiss is also a great tool: http://www.dtswiss.com

    Show us your bike history..

Mountainbikes since 1992: 1992 MBK cheap-o-crap something. 1993 Mikecycle, some cheap and very heavy elevated chainstay frame with rectangular downtube. Rode like a piece of s***, even back then... Had a complete Shimano XT group though. 1994 Independent (german brand) Spear, Easton...

Hi Dave! Yes sir! I wondered a few times who it was from Denmark, living in Odense and working with bikes... I will kick Jens and tell him about his cup! :D I will keep it in mind, and feel free to contact Jens or me, if there's anything we can do. Cheers, Ulrich

    Lightest steel retro frame set

They sure are. Even today many manufacturers are VERY optimistic. That Breezer is pretty light for a 18,5" frame!

    white industiries cranks

As far as I recall, selling Marin bikes around '96 to '98, the Sugino version also had the logo stamped (they were on the '97 Marin bikes). It is true that they had some issues with the tapers getting round, but that was only when they weren't tightened properly once in a while. For the price...

    Lightest steel retro frame set

My Stumpjumper 1997 Presitige 18" frame weighs 4.375 lbs/1995 gr. with a thin coat of paint. I remember the Brodie Sovereign frames from around '96 being claimed to weigh around 1650 grams, but that was probably a 14" size, helium filled and no paint...

New project: Vicini 1987 / new pics december 14th. (page 2)

Hmmm.... Rethinking my plans a little... To begin with, I'll try and carefully clean up the original paint, and touch it up where needed. Could be good fun racing a real 'sleeper', old frame with original paint running modern DA 10-speed with downtube shifters. That way I should be out...
