What length rigid fork for Kona?

I went with some 425mm Carbon forks on my Singlespeed ride. Works very well.

XTR FD-M900 Front Derailleur - Bottom Pull, ideally 28.6mm

Hi, After a NOS or Good condition XTR M900 Front Derailleur for my Hot build. Just like this one! Needs to be Bottom Pull and ideally a 28.6mm clamp, but I have the shims to be able to accomodate a 31.8mm clamp. I'm based in New York, but will obviously be happy to cover shipping...

drivetrain issue - 9 speed chain on 8 speed cassette?

Just re-read this and it seems I have fallen into my usual trap of answering my own questions! Sorry!

drivetrain issue - 9 speed chain on 8 speed cassette?

Okay Explanation by pictures. Please excuse the first one, but I hope it illustrates my point. You can see that the front to rear profile of the seat tube flares out at the bottom, but when looking from the side it seems to be the same width all the way through - so the main part is...

drivetrain issue - 9 speed chain on 8 speed cassette?

Cheers for the advice guys. Went to fit the M953 mech and realised that its a Top Pull, so cant use that either! I still have the old XT mech that came with the bike that I will fit for now until I can work out a solution. Ideally I want an 8 Speed XTR derailleur, but it looks like the...

drivetrain issue - 9 speed chain on 8 speed cassette?

Hi, I think I am cursed as my Hot build is fighting me every step of the way. Anyway, current issue is the new M950 front derailleur I bought doesnt fit the bike. The tube on the Hot flares out at the bottom into an oval shape and the design of the M950 means it has to be mounted lower...

1994 Kona Hot - updated progress pic 25th May

Hi, The saddle is not in the best of shape. The back is quite scuffed up and the colour is very faded. Here is the best pic I have for it at the moment. I need to get around to cleaning up all the old parts and listing them on here and/or ebay, so will get some better pictures soon...

1994 Kona Hot - updated progress pic 25th May

Thanks for the comments guys. I was really torn over what direction to go with this build - authentic retro or roughly in the right era. In the end I just went with stuff that I always wanted when I was first into bikes BITD. I remember really liking the look of the M950 group set with...

1994 Kona Hot - updated progress pic 25th May

Right, just got round to test fitting some of the parts now they have all arrived. Here is an updated pic before she goes off to have the headset pressed in and bb & cranks swapped over for some XTR M950 ones. So, I'm getting excited as it is nearly ready, looking forward to getting it...

1999 Kona Explosif 853 Rear Disc Adaptor

The A2Z one should work, but isnt an ideal situation - have a look at the Hahanna link in my sig for close up pics of my A2Z adapter in use. I agree though that getting one welded on is the best solution and what I intend to do when I respray my frame.

A 2008 spec, 95 Kona Hahanna - Retro and not so retro

Great - thanks for the tip. I might look at cutting some of the material away. I'm also likely to get the frame properly resprayed as my DIY job is sketchy at best. Whilst that is getting done, I may take the opportunity to get a tab welded on, remove the rear brake bosses and cable guides...

1993/4 Orange Prestige - considering changing spec page3

If you are considering new, how about some of these: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/eXotic-Rigid-Carb ... 240%3A1318 I've got a disc only set on my Kona singlespeed and they are great. Soften out some of the bumps. Are under 2lbs in weight and are 425mm length, so could be a good fit...

1994 Kona Hot - updated progress pic 25th May

Thanks! Its number TT1413 I'll be keeping it in its original Black paint for a little while as its growing on me. But it wouldnt be my first choice of colours, and as I said, the decals are peeling off, so a nice respray in my choice of colour would make it more of My bike rather than feel...

1994 Kona Hot - updated progress pic 25th May

Ok - so over the past few weeks I have been spending more money that I dont really have on this bike, which I dont really need. I'm still waiting for some of them to arrive, but here is a list of what I have bought so far and hope to be fitting in the weeks to come. Frame: 1994 Kona Hot...

Ti seatpost in a steel frame - Shim required?

Thanks for the advice - I guess I was getting worried about nothing, just need to keep an eye on it, regularly grease it up if I get it muddy/wet and probably worth taking out from time to time. Right - just need to get the post now!
