    Building a vintage fixed gear

At the very least, you should use an old English BB lockring which will screw straight on. You really don't want the thing unscrewing. If you're planning doing ace skids while wearing Frogskins and a Campagnolo hat with no brakes then I'd do it properly :D

    46T 4-bolt Chainring

Hang on a minute - just realised my '93 LX cranks have a 46T big ring. Just stuck em on, problem solved. Was about 2mm short of magic gear heaven. Now I just have a really slack chain

    46T 4-bolt Chainring

Since the introduction of slicks to my singlespeed C16R pub/town bike I seem to be a little on the undergeared side. Either that or I'm getting fitter (okay, it's the slicks). I'm currently running a 44T chainring so I think it's about time to step up to a 46. Black if you've got one, looking...

Rescued from the Grand Union Canal

    Okay, apologies for some non-retro content, but here's a few pics ... http://i641.photobucket.com/albums/uu13 ... G_1837.jpg http://i641.photobucket.com/albums/uu13 ... G_1835.jpg http://i641.photobucket.com/albums/uu13 ... G_1838.jpg http://i641.photobucket.com/albums/uu13 ... G_1842.jpg...

Rescued from the Grand Union Canal

I'll sort some pics in the morning. Canal is clearly deep enough to provide a soft landing. You should be fine :D

Rescued from the Grand Union Canal

Just got the bike back. Doesn't look too bad under the circumstances, think it's salvagable. Everything steel is now rusty, but that's just the chain, cables and bolts. I'll take it apart further and see what lies therein. Hubs seem to be spinning fine, but I'll get them apart and see the truth...

Rescued from the Grand Union Canal

Cheers guys. I'm going to see what I've got and then buy some shares in Muc-off. I'll let you know how it goes :?

Rescued from the Grand Union Canal

Okay, one of my bikes (not strictly retro, I'm afraid) was stolen a few weeks ago after I leant it to my flatmate  After a little on-line detective work I've got in touch with a kind Samaritan who's just fished it out of the Grand Union Canal. Apparently, it's been under a while (I'd...

    Orange Clockwork respray

I'm a big fan of my blue/silvery fade thing. Only seen a couple of them about. At the time I was lusting after a black one, but bought mine nearly new and decided to live with the colour and save some ££. Now I wouldn't swap it for the world.

    Quill converters

I'm using one on my clockwork, works fine just make sure it's done up real tight as mine started to slip once which made steering a little interesting :(

    LX crank question

I'd measure them to be sure, my black M560s are 110/74s. So it looks like the M563s was when they went 94/58. Mine came 46-36-26, but maybe that was '93 (now I'm writing this, this group was 7 speed so I might be barking up the wrong tree) I'm sure someone will know. Here's a couple of pics of...

Show us Ya Citrus Fruit! (Orange Content)

Here's my Clockwork adapted to fast street form. Apologies to those who are offended by the modern running gear. Still have all the original LX stuff if I ever decide to put it back to stock.

Really low stack 1" threaded stem...

Not selling mine, but you could try and get hold of a Kona Joe Murray Impact. Can deal with short steerers due to its integrated design, adjusts with a single allen bolt and looks the nuts :D Before you ask, that is a threaded headset with a quill to ahead adaptor and an ahead stem.

Rock Shox Quadra 21R brake bosses

Anyone got a pair? I'm riding around London on a single speed Orange C16R with only a back brake and it's a little bit scary
