7 spd XT (or similar) rear mech

I guess 8 would be ideal which would give me the option of running an 8spd block assuming that an 8 is compatible with a 7spd block (which they are as far as I understand it?). I'll certainly grab one though please, price? No need to post a pic unless you have one to hand but I'd be after...

7 spd XT (or similar) rear mech

In reality the bushes went a long time ago so it's time to replace my rear mech. I need something suitable for a 7 spd cassette, currently running an old XT with 8spd SIS written on it (would presume early to mid nineties vintage). I run 7 spd and am using XTR STI shifters. I believe I...

    Best All time Saddle

Old Flite Ti every time. When I started riding again after a loooooong layoff I couldn't find my old flite so stuck on something with a little more padding as I was going to have to break me backside into riding again (so to speak). Just could not get on with it. Picked up an old Flite on...

    Hans Rey

Very much remember him, in fact watched a fairly recent 1hr program of him doing adventure rides which was available on the BT Vision on demand service. I don't think he spent more than 2 minutes on both wheels at the same time in the entire program :)

    WiFi Connection Issues

MAC address filtering is no longer considered a security precaution, anyone who wanted in would find it no problem at all to overcome (spoofing a legit address) and it just adds hassle to administer e.g. a friend wants to use the connection etc.. The best you can do is go for the highest...

    Clipless with dodgy knees?

My knees aren't brilliant but I get on ok with modern Shimano spd's. You're local to me so if you want to try some out holler via PM and we'll sort something. Cheers Paddy

    Weekend Faffing

Got out on Friday night for a nice off road chill out ride, weather yesterday was biblical so stayed firmly indoors with tea and a monster session on the PS3 followed by take out food and a bottle of wine with the good lady. Today has mainly been wedding related duties (T minus 2 months and...

cycle to work scheme stitch up! help required

I think there's a point been missed here that was made earlier, if you pick a bike from your LBS and then set up with Halfauds for them to get the bike from your LBS and then you simply pick it up from Halfauds, then the LBS is still getting the sale and hence the money.

    Road Bike Experts

I can't talk about retro but just last week I picked up a new Trek 1.2 as my first road bike. It's bang on your price point and although I've no basis for comparison it seems a lot of bike for the money. Ally frame with a carbon fork (the carbon fork does take some of the harshness out of...

**Update to Classfied Rules and temporary bans**

That's really not a bad ratio at all. Personally when I'm new to a forum and am buying / selling, I start with lower value items until I feel I'm established on the site.

    i-Phone 3G - Advice needed

Agreed. My Orange SPV M700 performs a raft of functions : Phone Music player (various formats) Sat Nav (Runs Tom Tom) GPS logging of my rides that can then be loaded into Google Earth so I can see where I got lost :) Email and every type of messaging I can think of Reasonable camera with...

How far is your average ride?

Cool, some interesting and informative (for me) replies, cheers. I'm also wondering what the panel think about using a bike that's specific to task. At the moment I'd say 75% of my riding is on the road (3 times a week after work for excercise purposes), off road is purely for pleasure at...
