Re: So, I've been hard at work cleaning as much as possible within a day or so, trued the rims and greased bearings. I've also been for a decent ride and it rides great. I have some plans now too. I'll be replacing the mechs with period Simplex, putting some toe clips on it and a Rolls saddle...

I went to view this bike, after it had been on ebay for a while. The seller had it listed as a frame for someone of at least 6 feet tall and I'm 5-8 and a bit, so didn't look too close until my day off today, when I noticed it looked like a 22 inch or so, so should be okay. Anyway, I viewed it...

Re: Re: Hello mate. I raided the missus' stash of old washing up sponges with a really knackered scourer type top..almost worn smooth. She keeps a pile of these for me to use on my old Beetle and camper. I used those with lots of washing up liquid mixed strongly, this also acts as a lubricant...

Thanks everyone :-) I do intend to replace the nuts and washers with stainless steel and I have quite a good supplier nearby who I've used when restoring cars in the past. I reckon it's the small details that will make the difference in the end. Cheers!

Re: I've done quite a bit, this last week or so. Bought a decent crank puller and doused the crank and seat post in some of that 'oven brite' (?) stuff from the pound shop. It worked and it didn't....worked on some bits, such as the chainwheels, but the crank arms and post came out really...

That's properly lovely, everything is so co-ordinated....the stance on it is mega.. Andy.

Re: Looks like a de-stickered Dawes Mirage. My mate had one like this at school with Reynolds 500 (?) tubing, in the mid 80s though, not 70s...red stickers. Hope this helps :)

If possible... my Raleigh Pursuit is 21 inch and the stand over height is great....my old Peugeot Aspin was 22 inch and just okay.
