    1997 bianchi

I can't decide if thats a beautiful bike or the ruins of a collapsed factory, theres certainly lots of metalwork going in all directions! I'll go with beautiful bike though as its a Bianchi and I won't have a bad word said about anything painted Celeste ;) Will :)

    changing gearing

Thanks Keith It does jump to the next gear down, I've adjusted the stops so the chain just jumps spoke side then eased it back a tickle to stop it going spoke side. I've no idea if the freewheel and chain are original but I suspect they both are, theres virtually no wear on the wheel rims...

    changing gearing

I've got a slight issue with my old 1980s Bianchi. Its a bit hilly round here to say the least and when I get out of the saddle the darned thing jumps down a gear making life a good deal harder than it needs to be. Suspecting its a worn chain I had a quick measure using the 12 links theory...

    What do you polish with?

I spent a pleasant hour or so yesterday morning cleaning the Bianchi and managed to improve things a lot using Brasso (found it under the sink, I'll no doubt be in trouble when the mrs finds its all gone). Its fairly obvoius from my efforts that to get it back to immaculate state I am going...

Can I save the Junk Yard Dog.

Always worth saving an old bike mate. I rode a Halfords Vitesse bike to Lands End when I was 13, 30 years ago this year so am doing it again on the Bianchi this summer to re-enact the event 8) A Vitesse came up on ebay a few weeks ago and I was very tempted. Will :)

    My new old Bianchi

Thanks 8) I'm well chuffed with it, I paid £150 for it on ebay which was a tad brave because I hadn't seen it. I've been longing for a celeste Bianchi for years and it was only 10miles off my weekly driving route so easy to collect so I took a punt on it. I was amazed to find the tyres...

    My new old Bianchi

First proper outing on the new old Bianchi yesterday. Slightly disgraced itself by having a puncture 5miles from home and eldest sons saddle pack had some Top Gear cards and a toy Ferrari in instead of tools and a puncture kid, guess thats my fault for not checking  Its a Rekord 841...
