Respect to the '95 Cindercone @ The Look Out this weekend

@ Bracknell's "The Look Out" this weekend with the wife, kids and dog. Wifey kept moaning at me for checking out all the new carbon full bounce rides that were on show. But the coolest bike by far was some bloke with his 'used' '95 Cindercone and his kids riding Islabikes. That blue is...

n00b chain dropping to granny cog question....

I think I know the answer, but I'm too lazy/tried to check... so: I've recently been riding a cheap SingleTrack 930 I got off ebay. When I'm in the middle ring and a low gear for a hill when I put hill climbing presure on it slips to the granny cog. what do i need: new chain? set up...

    Coolwall April 2011 - Cannondale

UNCOOL I've only ever riden one - it was too tall for me, had a harse riding aluminium frame and a soft headshok which never looked right. found them tough to like ever since.

    Show us your Specialized

Guessing this is a 1989 or 1990 - belongs to the boss

    Your Retrobike least wanted list.

Cannondale with Headshok .... rode my mates BITD - harsh rear-end and bouncy front - just felt wrong. Some Marins - they make me think of Volvos.

    A rare find? UK made...Zinn Z-Centaur 92

Great bike, never knew anything about Zinn's before this thread. I think its good to be patriotic in a positive way about British engineering. And I've always liked that colour - looks Pimento Red as per my 1976 TR6 ;-) But what do I know - I'm colour blind and ride an Explosif !!!

Newbie to the forum, and my 2 retro rides

Hi welcome .... love the fact that most of the replies have been about the Saracen! As for the Kona, unless my colour blindness is worse than I thought its a 1995 and IMHO the best colour Kona did the Cindercone in. As for the collar I see you've got V brakes fitted. I think these are after...

    my 3 Kona's

I like the fact that I'm not alone in thinking you need atleast 3 Konas. Current plan: Explosif - leave alone & just ride Caldera - build up as a light weight single speed with my spare P2s Lava Dome - budget rebuild completing this month Love all 3 of yours

92 Lava Dome ... slowly getting back some pride

Between 1996 & 2010 MY '92 Lava Dome had mud guards fitted, a cushioned seat, a padlock coiled round her seat post and fitted with a bell. I found her underneath my ex-B-in-Law's lawnmower, roof box & ladders - him being the guilty party for 14 years of neglect etc. She's since been stripped and...

    VOODOO Build Now The Evolution

    Diamond Back Ascent 1991 SS

I remember BIND when I was allowed mountain bikes in the kitchen... But that was so long ago most of the bikes on this forum were brand new and clean enough to be in doors anyway !

BoTM Jan 2011 Pre' 90 Special - The Poll

Thought long and hard about the almost all of them and any are worthy winners. And regardless of my documented Kona habit I had to vote for such a clean early Explosif.

Rock Shox Jett - any good

I'm looking to build up a 1998 Kona Caldera frame fairly cheaply. Cheapest way seemed to be buy a donor spares/repair Trek 930. By chance the 99 930 comes with Rock Shox Jett FS hence the question - are these any good? .... I realise there's absolutely no logic to what I'm doing because...

1994 TREK 930 SHX - PAINTED WITH DECALS ON PAGE 3!!

You're more anal than me - but good for you. I'm building up a bike I've previously owned and appreciate the desire to see it back to former glory. Good luck & keep posting. (PS picking up a "spares/repair" 930 tomorrow, but using it as a donor for my '98 Caldera.)

Newbie Kona/Specialized intro - now with Pics

Typical bloke - got half way through one project (95% of the paint off the Lava Dome) and have purchased another. I picked up a frame of a '98 Caldera from ebay today. Slight damage to one tube, but thankfully it looked worse in the photo than real life - its going to be my super light single...
