    1994 Zaskar rebuild

Probably the earlier graphics than the originals. I think his year had the large "GT" and "All Terra" on the downtube and "Zaskar LE" on the toptube. Its been a long time since it had any graphics on it. One thought was actually the circa '92 "Zaskar" font, die-cut in orange reflective on the...

    1994 Zaskar rebuild

I wanted to share pics of my brother's Zaskar LE rebuild after the final pieces went on it this week. He's owned the bike since new, built from the frameset up. Originally silver with yellow SLs, its always worn purple anodized parts with pride even well after they went out of fashion. :)...

    GT Xizang Serial number thread

Yup. And according to this, the 1990 model year as well. http://www.retrobike.co.uk/gallery2/v/M ... 0.pdf.html Even the 1989 model was too if i remember right. But that Xizang was also fillet-brazed steel and built up with the Browning BEAST and XC-9000...

    GT Xizang Serial number thread

Hey gtRTSdh. I just noticed you were noting "U-Brake" or not on your serial number list. My old '92 Xizang LE, which is number 16 on your list, was definitely a U-Brake model. Also, back in the day I had a friend who owned an all XC-Pro build Xizang LE of the same year and size as mine...

1995 Steel Stumpjumper FS, sympathetic resto

Huh. It looks even more like 1 1/8" from the close ups. Maybe my S-Works is more different than i thought. A 1" HT bike in 1995 was rare either way. Best way to be sure is to measure... Other than what you've already pointed out, the bike seems to match the Bikepedia posted specs pretty...

1995 Steel Stumpjumper FS, sympathetic resto

Hmmm. I agree it certainly looks like a 1 1/8" steerer in the photo... but i happen to have a steel S-Works from the same year and it actually has a 1" steerer. (the Ibis stem on there is an 1 1/8" with a Thomson adapter underneath) Would the S-Works be different? I would have thought...

ecco a voi la mia GT xizang del 1993

When i had my '92 Xizang i used a titanium Syncros post (27.2) and a titanium Specialized seatclamp with a Paul's 'BlueBalls' bolt. It never slipped. I still have the clamp (and maybe even the original GT clamp) and can double check the size...

GT Xizang 92. Done 23/05/10 (Pictures heavy)

Thanks dude, wasn't by choice i'm afraid. :( And yours is done! Congratz! And it looks really great. Other than your noted consideration for suspension, does it ride as good as it looks? I love the way that era Xizang looks rigid. Was '92 the last year it wasn't suspension-corrected?

GT Xizang 92. Done 23/05/10 (Pictures heavy)

Thanks. The drive-side shot of your bike just looks right. Awesome. And looking at yours being built up makes me want mine back again so much! I've recently posted part of the pictoral history of my 92 Xizang here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/justwannar ... 998622342/ Ya know... for...

GT Xizang 92. Done 23/05/10 (Pictures heavy)

Nice bike! I used to have the same year and size. And loved it. Moved recently i re-found some stuff long filed away... including my original Xizang decal rubbings. When i first received my Xizang in '92 i loved it but wanted the graphics to be blue. Luckily i had a friend that worked...

    GT Xizang Serial number thread

Although its been gone for 10 years now, i still remember the serial number of my first Xizang like it was yesterday. 1992 Xizang LE 16" G16063 RIP... *sniff* Unfortunately I don't remember the replacement's - 1999 Xizang - serial number before i sold it. It had the final year's...
