    Planet X retro road stuff.

    http://www.planet-x-bikes.co.uk/i/q/STC ... _road_stem A quirky looking thing and there are the pin-up girl add-ins too (at £99! )

When Will This Be Retro? or is it already?

Nice, always fancied one. Giant NuRSe Ecstasy ;)

what on earth is this frame????

Could it be a Saracen Trekker Hydrotech? About 1991? Looks very like my Trekker Comp, apart from green-ness, and the triple guides along the top tube look like they are for hose. Saracen used 11/4" XT headsets on their top end bikes and DX on the rest. Gravy Monster has one at...

    Bicycle shop venture

Fingers crossed for you. My friend Al started Garage Bikes in Morley after spending years not enjoying ordinary work. Now, he loves it and is doing plenty of good work (search the net or FaceBook or my Maverick posts if you are interested and tell him I sent you;) ). It was not easy for...

Bike Storage - Now With Pics

I used to use two big hooks - one for front wheel and one for rear - and suspend the bike up-side-down. If you have thickish joists, put the hooks in at right angles to reduce the drop further. I've fixed a friend's DB Topanga in the same way but hooked under the stem and saddle. Wheels...

Lights - upgrade Lumicycle vs Chinese Cree XML vs ?

Not read the whole thread. Have you spoken to Lumicycle? I've found them to be very helpful and repairs are either free or very reasonable. On two occasions (over about 8+ years), I've sent battery-packs back and had them repaired or up-grated. IMO, worth a try as Lumi are a Brit company...

Interesting comparison test of steel frames

There is a comparison of Columbus Genius and Reynolds 753 (or 853) out there somewhere. Two nearly identical bikes built by the same frame builder and ridden back to back. I should have saved it when I found it  I think the reviewer preferred Genius.

    Retro-modern Columbus Genius road bike

A dry and sunny day so I decided to get a few pics of the bike with bar tape (it's been in place since May). The winter sun was not as flattering as I'd hoped, but she does glow very nicely.

    the BEST hardtail ever???

    Pace RC200 f8. :)

Large volume tyre with modest width?

WTB Velociraptors, quite tall but not too wide. Plenty of grip and quite retro in style. (My second favourite tires after Dart and Smoke). I'm still using both on my hard-tails apart from in really filthy conditions.

    Maverick SC32 noise

Send an e-mail to Ethan in the USA. He's really helpful. So are John Atkins Cycles who service Maverick. THere are quite a few Maverick fora, those on MTBR are generally quite sensible.

    Columbus genius steel

Hi, I had a Genius MTB from Hardisty in Newcastle. I loved it and rode it (rigid) for many years 'till an idiot motorist destroyed it. Pics are on here. I've now got a Genius road bile and love it too.

How to avoid having your arse reshaped?

Proper chamois cream. It's the way to go. Enjoy the minty freshness of Assos (reasonably priced too) or NAPPY CREAM as it stops chafing and has additives to keep your bot-bot fresh or ATRIXO hand cream works as well. Lemon is nice. Psedocreme doesn't work as it's no lube in it.

    Apologies for blaspheming, but Halfords

Hi, My gf got a bike on cycle to work through Halfords. She was VERY sniffy 'till she heard she could get a Dolan (most of the UK track bikes seem to be Dolan) or a whole range of other interesting bikes. We went to see Terry himself and got loads of advice and got fitted there too 8) ...

ALL BECAUSE OF A PICTURE-A TRIBUTE BUILD FOR A NATIONAL HERO

Fantastic job. I loved riding mine and this tread reminded me of that bike, the rides we had and, of course, the great JMC. Off to the North York Moors to ride some of the trails in "Dirt" soon - it's a bit of an occasional pilgrimage

    my raleigh memphis under repairs.

Good luck. glad to see one again. I had one of those as my first mountainbike. Some buggers nicked it from Leeds city centre :( I'd got it set up for touring with f & r racks and extra bottle cage on the bars.
