Re: OK, i'm putting this out there, i'm likely to get toaste Raced with XT thumbies on my 92 Alien this past year. 7-speed too. Great set-up. Not sure if this was mentioned as I did not read all 5 pages of posts, but the durability of thumbies is worth mentioning. Broke the pawl in the left...

    Winter boots for flipper feet

Yeah, at least one size bigger. Lake did have a useful chart and image on their website where you would measure your foot width and length and compare it to the diagram which indicated your size. I was unable to get their new website to run on my computer. Thunderchild

    Winter boots for flipper feet

I have 3E wide feet. Lake MXZ 302 wides were the best I could find. They are about a 2E width. All of my bike shoes are now Lake Wides. I had 301s and upgraded a few years ago to the 302. I like the boots, ride a lot in the snow, and have used them for several winters. Thunderchild

    Zaskar X

I have an opportunity to own a GT Zaskar X. I don't have a GT in the stable, so one is is desperately needed. It is a 2000 model. I think this was before GT was owned by Pacific or some other company. Can anyone verify. I like the disc brake option and the alloy is 6000 series which might...

    Who races retro bikes still?

Got back into a bit of fun racing this year. Best part was beating 29er loud-mouths with my 26-inch, 20 year old (92) Nishiki Alien, 10 year old Marzocchi Fork, Avid Tri-align brake on rear, vbrakes on front, pulstar front hub, original Deore Dx 130mm rear hub, 8-speed Shimano thumb shifters...

    avid BB7 help needed please!

May be a moot point but anyhow...If they are the original mechanical, they are set-up for a 165mm rotor before the 160mm became standard. Not sure if that will help your problem as my older set (165mm rotor) mount as well as my new sets, and the old ones work on a 160mm rotor; just ride 2.5...

    1992 Nishiki Ariel - finished p2!

Nice build. One item to check. I worked in a bike shop when these frames came out in 91. Yeah, we all got one at employee discount. Sweet bike. I really liked it and it hooked me on E-stays. Many, if not most, of the ariels cracked. I cracked mine on the Porcupine Rim Trail in Moab, Utah...

Help ID this switch blade type rigid fork

Just found this catalog of Tange tubing and forks from 1997. Doesn't completely solve the ID issue, but interesting. There is one picture of a switchblade. Remember the shock blade... http://www.equusbicycle.com/bike/tange/ ... index.html Thunderchild ]-

Help ID this switch blade type rigid fork

I weighed the fork and it is 1.2 Kg with a 135mm steerer. I would say that was a bit on the heavy side. I have no comparison, so anyone have a weight to compare? taffy asked if there was an allen head bolt to hold the steerer on. There is a phillips head screw at center of the back of the...

Cleaning out the mancave. Moving to other projects and will be putting this fork up for sell. I rescued it from a pawn shop a few years ago (You guys across the pond have a different name for pawn shops?) Pretty sure it is a Tange Switchblade. Is there anymore to know beyond that? Do the...
