The myth of Biopace... Let's discuss

Yep, they're the ones. They do look cool. He's had problems with the BB but he likes the chainset. It certainly doesn't look heavy!

    Ebay advice

Do those remote lockouts have to have the fork disassembled to fit them? A lot of them just bolt onto the top of the leg. Did it have the lockout lever on the top of the leg already? I don't know much about these sus forks aside from seeing lots of similar RS forks. The remote lockout lever...

As for repair costs, £100 is more or less the standard fee to send to RS for a service or repair investigation.

    Dablk's Feedback

Picked up a frame from his home, couldn't hang around because the F1 was on! But a great person to deal with :)

    Found my Animal watch!

It's easy peasy changing batteries over with a little kit. You can get a kit off ebay for a tenner or so and batteries are pennies if you buy 10 or so. It pays for itself in no time if you've got a couple or more watches :) It winds me up these days that you can't get the type of Animal...

The myth of Biopace... Let's discuss

Someone I know has them on a posh newish Yeti - super lightweight chainset, although I can't remember who by. He's running something like a 36t ring - it looks so weird, it makes the bigger 4*tooth rings look normal! But he's a damn good racer, and along with the pros these days, that has to...

Why so much branding on bikes? Are we childish show offs?

I love the understated look...can't stand stickers all over. The Italians are bad for it but, as mentioned, Look is one of the worst! This is my own little brand of custom frames/bikes. Only one decal on the headtube, one on the downtube - literally one, on one side only that wraps around -...

    Sweet Wings Crankset question.

The bolt only threads into the one side. The n/d/s isn't threaded :)

    I don't speak the lingo...but I'm pretty sure a Salsa CroMo-Lenker isn't a Dean Colonel :? The link takes me to a thread from 2001 :? Edit: just spotted! Although, I've been after a Salsa CroMo-Lenker for a while :P

    Drugs & Retrobiking - Discussion

Night before, I try to eat lots of pasta with a vegetable sauce so as to keep the bad fats down, lots of water during the day before makes a big difference. Avoid any bad fats as much as possible as it makes absorbing energy difficult. The morning I usually mix up a 4:1 (carb/protein) energy...

    Sweet Wings Crankset question.

It looks to me as though they should just pull apart. If it's anything like the current campag systems, they can get pretty tight. Sometimes need a bit of a pull or a gentle whack. Then I'm guessing the bearings are splined with Shimano BB type splines, so undo as a normal BB. They look cool! 8)

splitting 2 x XTR clad Santa Cruz Hecklers

Bad luck with the break in...but good luck that nothing was taken :) Be VERY careful with the garage over the next few weeks though, it seems that it's very common that they come back 2 or 3 weeks later to finish the job and/or pick up any insurance replacements that have arrived. Don't make...

specialized rock hopper late 80s early 90s £39.BIN bargain!

Re: specialized rock hopper late 80s early 90s £39.BIN barga Not too difficult for me to get to, but can't make it this week, maybe next Weds. Can get it back to me for the cost of a train fare (a tenner maybe) and then could box it up and send it if you want. Bit of a faff but it's doable...

Shimano LX / STX RC / XT Hope Parts General clear out

What model is the STX-RC rear mech? I've been trying to hunt down the original 7spd but to no avail, now given up and OK with the later model 7spd! Still quite hard to find in decent nick though. Sorry to jump in, but if it's the one I've been hunting for, then I'll pay full asking and...
