Full suspension retro-bikes - are they worth it.

Yes! 1996 Intense Uzzi SL Yes! 1997 Ted Wojcik Soft Trac FS The Intense is ahead of it's time, the Wojcik is a little behind the times but works really well taking the edge off XC runs. If you understand what the bikes were made for they can perform admirably in those conditions.

Retro bikes you saw V 2.0

I was staying at the southern tip of Manhattan a few weeks ago and saw this chained up on the street: Certainly the earliest Rockhopper I've seen, and very nearly complete and original-check out the grips. The street was lined with Ferraris....I was taking pics of this! I was thinking '85?

does everyone on here ride with a helmet?

I just bought my first helmet 3 months ago...I'm 41. I wore it once....I just don't think much about it and forget to put it on. I think it will be like the seat belt in my car, I just have to get in the habit of using it-it was not a distraction at all like I thought it might be. I...

Calling all East Coast / New England Retrobikers! Help!

Funny that you should mention Acadia, Maine is my home state, and I've ridden those roads with my parents many years ago. The Maine coast is highly recommended, but as you say, a bit more of a drive from NYC. Regarding Burlington, it's worth noting that there is an Amtrak train that runs...

    7 years ago today.....

You really got me thinking...how long ago did the Timber Comp fall in my lap? It took an hour of searching, but I finally found the picture when I first laid eyes on it (and had no clue what it would lead to...). I bet I hit this website as a lurker a few months after. April 16, 2006: I...

    Personal Unicorn bikes (What's yours?)

I live in the northeastern USA and I covet those Clelands so badly, I can't imagine what it would take to find one here or get one sent over...maybe someday. A couple years back I responded to a local Craigslist ad for a Santana Moda, and as soon as I saw the bike I fell in love...

Bike of The Month June 2013 - The Poll

Every few months I check out the BOTM, and each time I can't fathom why comments are allowed in the voting thread. I keep coming back, hoping it wont bother me so much, but it always does. Lobby me all you want in the nomination thread, but the actual vote should be a private affair. Yearly...
