    lo pro thoughts?

my frame is a lo-pro but it's not particularly extreme. I really like the ride on it, mine is 700c all round. You can still get a bit of a bargain with the frames because they are not so in demand, so they are probably a cheaper build.

    campagnolo bits

Hi folks, few bits that need to go. Athena 175 cranks. 53/42. Used with scuffs and marks etc, but they have useful life in them for someone. £35 SOLD Old Athena aero levers. No Hoods. Scuffed. £10. Sold C-record friction shifters. There are some components missing, unfortunately. The cables...

    Bike Weight. Retro vs Modern

You can make more noticeable gains in some places than others. The most noticeable difference is going to be on the things that rotate. So 100g saved on tyres for example is going to be more obvious than 100g saved on a seat post - at least when you are rolling, which I guess is when it counts...

    Bike Weight. Retro vs Modern

This thread has made me think. I was looking about today at different things as I'd like to shed some weight from my bike. Considering it is only a 52cm frame, I think it's a bit on the lardy side; tipping the scales at just over 20lbs. Been looking about today, and for a meagre £17 I could...

    Your retro plans for 2013

Good to see a few people have big plans, good luck 8) I picked up a Planet X carbon fork, it needs a bit of work as it has been damaged on the steerer tube. Luckily my bike is so small that I should be able to cut off much if not all of the damaged area and reinforce the remaining section...

    Road frame sizing

I used this guide; http://www.competitivecyclist.com/za/CC ... ATOR_INTRO Which I found useful. Gives you different options depending on how hardcore you want your riding position to be. I hadn't heard the inseam - 10" thing, but that is consistent with this guide, and my bike.

    Your retro plans for 2013

So then folks, what are your goals for this year? Now I have the bike in 'riding' condition, I'd obviously like to ride it quite a bit more this year than I had the opportunity to last. I'd also like to get the weight down a bit, and get the group set a bit more consistent (and lighter)...

    Bike Weight. Retro vs Modern

I suggest you go into a half decent bike shop and pick up some of the bikes that are retailing for up to about a grand. I did this the other day and it made me feel a lot better about the weight of my bike. I'd like to pick up a lighter set of wheels, and possibly switch to carbon forks and...

    Definitely riding with other people.

    Polishing components

A variety of things, it depends how bad it is. I rate autosol - it might not give a mirror finish on ally but I have always found it gives an easily maintainable finish. Duraglit is not very abrasive at all, more for removing tarnish off gold and silver in my opinion. I thoroughly...

What the chuff have I bought?

I wouldn't have thought you would be allowed to run in a triathlon with those bars?

    inner ring clearance

Bit of an update. The BB tool arrived this morning, took the chorus off and fitted an athena sealed unit. I was going to fit the old chorus cup/cone but because I've got a slotted BB, and I don't have the tool for it either. Anyway it was an easy swap and I now have maybe 7/8mm of clearance...

What the chuff have I bought?

It feels like ti to me, I'm not sure the welds are quite what you would expect on a new ti frame but it's not a new ti frame. It's lovely. Just my size too.
