checked the spindle with another crank, no problem. pretty sure it's the socket on the left arm. will contact seller and see if I can get a return, sounds like they're not worth the trouble Cheers guys!

Got myself a really nice shimano 600 crankset, but upon putting it onto the spindle, I noticed that the arms aren't exactly 180 from each other. Is this a usual occurrence? And is there anything that can be done? Cheers Alex

I've realised now that refinishing this frame would be both a waste of time and money - it was always going to be a beater. Anyways, I wanna get rid of a few little bits of surface rust, and probably treat the inside of the tubes somehow as well, before going over the exposed steel to stop any...

forgot to say, these are 1 inch diameter.

I bought these and stupidly didn't consider the steerer tube length - too short for my 59cm frame, but if you have a smaller frame with a shorter head tube, these would be perfect! Steerer tube is approx 162mm, with just over 1 inch of thread. Made by Roberts from Columbus SL steel, really...

I managed to get some really nice Columbus steel forks off ebay, but annoyingly I didn't consider the steerer tube length, and so needless to say it had been cut too short for my frame! And so apart from those, ebay has virtually nothing! Does anyone even make lugged steel forks anymore...

I haven't bought any wheels yet, so this is purely speculation. If you reckon that quick release WOULD hold it (and upon some further searching, it would seem there is some debate over this topic), are there any skewers that are better than others? Cheers Alex
