    1993 Kona Hot

Lovely that. Glad it gets to keep its patina. Headtube looks big for 17" frame.

BoTY Bike of The Year 2023 - The poll

Frame on that Mountain Goat is fabulous. It might get my vote but it's not an easy choice.

    Clear coating advice!

Well I am less grumpy. But woefully ignorant. However there's some info here: https://www.retrobike.co.uk/threads/decals-before-lacquer-or-tother-way-round.230486/page-2 Post some pics of the frame : )

BoTM Bike of The Month January 2024 - now taking entries

That Muddy Fox isn't just making up the numbers. Love it. And well done rescuing the original paint. Better than covering everything in powdercoat.

Skeeter 1 's 1993 Kona Cindercone build thread.

The grey 1996 Velocity stem had no hanger. I tried one on my own '93 Cinder Cone but it looked naff. Colour looked bad and they lack the elegant taper of the earlier stems. There's a pic of one here...

    Lower your nose?

The only Brooks saddle I ever had was in good nick. I kind of liked the look tbh, but it made my bits go numb after 5 miles whatever way I angled it. Sold. My usable saddles are set flat or very, very slightly nose down if bars much lower than seat. Obviously saddle set up is a personal...

97 Kona - replacing suspension fork with rigid

That is an exceptionally well spent $75. Buy yourself a beer. Or three. I'd be looking for a 410 Kona P2 fork. In triple butted form. Light, good to look at and they do soak up some bumps.

    Kona Lava Dome 1992

That does indeed look great. Original paint with a few wee scratches and chips is the way to go : )

    Kona Cinder Cone 1993

Ah well, the shifting issue was easily sorted with a switch to friction mode. Shifts lovely. M730 shifters are six speed and cassette is 7. Doh. Fitted a Tektro brake booster and it seems to have eased the squeal. Can't say it's a thing of beauty but I don't see it when riding. Must say I...

    Kona Cinder Cone 1993

Am aware of fork issue. But aim was to build it up with what I had stashed. I expect it will gradually morph back to a proper spec when a nice 390mm TB fork and funds become available. I have a v good non-threaded triple butted 410mm P2 that I might sell or swap for the right fork. Until...

    Kona Cinder Cone 1993

First shake-down ride out this. Sub-zero mostly but sunny when I set off. Very frosty where the sun doesn't get. The Cinder Cone rides great, is comfortable and the steering seems good. Niggles: 1. Front brake squeal despite careful toe-in. I hate that. May try a booster in case it is fork...

Looks great. I wouldn't be repainting that. Looking forward to some pics after cleaning.

BoTM Bike of The Month December 2023 - The vote

That Dirt Shark.....what a fab thing. The Blizzard and Ganna Cruiser are lovely too but I fear saddle angles would cause bits to go numb then drop off.

    Puch Theridion £100 Rochdale

I think KayOs has it. It's like the 'ch' in Scottish loch. English folk often struggle with it and say lock. https://www.andrew.cmu.edu/user/ujf/blog/German_ch.html Austrian probably quite similar?
