    Carlton Carrera 531c 58cm £150

Re: It's a good bike, it just needs some love. I figured that a sensible price would get it rehomed.

    Carlton Carrera 531c 58cm £150

I have this Carlton that will make a great project for someone. It all seems to be working but needs a clean and tune up. Reynolds 531c frame and fork, 58cm, Campagnolo dropouts Shimano Golden Arrow chainset, rear derailleur, brakes and levers Weinmann hoods) Sunrise shifters and freewheel...

1962/3 Falcon San Remo - help please

Re: Hi Your dads bike looks great! Mine is still hanging on the wall at the moment, I've got all of the parts now but I'm still saving up for the chrome and paint. I keep getting sidetracked by other projects however I'm off on a charity ride through the Alps in a years time so I'll probably...

1962/3 Falcon San Remo - help please

Re: The St Budeaux decal and the initials are the guy I bought it from. He bought the bike second hand and changed the bars and stem in the very early 70's. He doesn't recall changing the fork.

Re: Yes; both 1960's. So I'll give everything a good clean, sort out some proper sprints and fix the paint. Easy!

1962/3 Falcon San Remo - help please

You're right, they are universal levers. Normally that's what id do; I have a number of bikes, all a mish mash of components and eras and all used fairly regularly. I'm a big fan of original paint, particularly on rarer bikes, I like them to have a story and be more conservation than...

1962/3 Falcon San Remo - help please

Re: I've checked; there's no numbers; maybe it is a replacement. The question now is do I get them chromed?

Re: I don't know why I hadn't noticed that; I'll check and see if they have a matching number.

1962/3 Falcon San Remo - help please

Re: Mine does differ from the advert in that it doesn't have a chrome fork, it appears to have always been white. I'd love to use the bar end shifters but they appear to be an extra; not on the original bike. The last owner can't remember where they came from. I will build it with tubulars...

1962/3 Falcon San Remo - help please

Re: I've been looking at that one; it's a fabulous looking bike. The picture of Mick Stallatd is really useful as it looks like he's on small flange hubs and the stem is very like a gb stem.

1962/3 Falcon San Remo - help please

I have acquired this fantastic albeit tired Falcon San Remo which I believe to be the 1962/3 model; the advert from the time offers it in this nice Bronze paint scheme. The gent I got it from bought it second hand in 1970; he remembers updating the stem and handlebar, he painted the white bands...

    Mercian (King)

Re: Hi How long did your dad own it for? A lot of the components are newer than the frame; I don't suppose there's a box of old bike parts in his garage?

It's not a Merckx but what is it?

I've finally managed to strip this down: The frame is 1.65kg it has a 22 inch centre to centre top tube and 21.5 inch centre to centre seat tube, the seatpost diameter is 27.2. It is bare apart from the alloy headset cups. The fork weighs 700grams with a 180mm steerer, it has the alloy crown...

Stuart Frame - Is it a Holdsworth?

Re: Here it is built up; it's the exact spec that I got it in apart from the seatpost; everythings had a thorough clean and regrease. I took it out for a little test and it was fabulous; I'm taking it up the bwlch tomorrow, hopefully it climbs well.
