    SEROTTA ATX; finally finished ,....T.G.!

saga of the serotta Hey Bas, Just picked up on this and read the whole thing from start to finish - what a great experience! I couldn't help thinking that it's like getting a body-off chassis rebuild to your favourite classic car - for nothing! Imagine if you had a Ferrari or something and...

    Giant Peloton Superlite

Well, sorry, what we had in the shop turned out to be a Giant Speedster Superlight - different bike. (And mine was just a Peloton - not a Peloton Superlite.)

    Giant Peloton Superlite

Peloton superlight I had a white Peloton, bought new in about 1991. Not a Superlight though. Last week I saw a white Superlight in the bike shop where I work. I'll try and remember to ask one my knowledgeable colleagues next week whether anyone knows anything about the bike. I remember my...

Giant ALM 1 1992 frame interchangeable with Boulder frame?

I snapped my ALM 1 frame and bent the fork. (No I wasn't looking.) Everything else on the bike is good. Can I replace it with an (also 90's?) rigid, Giant Boulder frame? Will everything fit? (Crank bearings?)

The girl's bike with Ti frame is amazing - Ferrari territory for me but sure is inspirational!

    Best kids' mtb

Yup: "Welcome to our children’s bikes for cycling families. Isla Rowntree has introduced a range of children's bikes after watching young cyclists struggle with heavy, ill fitting machines." (http://www.islabikes.co.uk/index.html)

Commuter tires (for a Cadex ALM 1)

Hoi Bas, The Speedmax looks like a clever choice for greater Amsterdam's mix of bricks, tarmac, tramlines, hardpacked gravel paths, clay and swampy grass - but looks quite heavy? I wondered whether the Schwalbe balloon tires (Super Moto seems the fastest - and I also want fast) would be as...

    Best kids' mtb

Wow - plenty of inspiration here! Islabikes looks like an easy route - and I've just seen one that weighed just 9.5 kg! Normally the kids have to tote adult weights and my nearly 5 year-old just bogs down on the soft stuff as a result. 9.5 will set him free! Now to find one in Amsterdam...

What is the best 20" mtb? The Kona Makena gets good reviews... Or is there also a retro kids mtb that at least weighs a little bit less than the adult version?

Commuter tires (for a Cadex ALM 1)

Hi - new and new to MTB's, so time for the obvious questions: I need to replace the no-name knobblies on my used but willing ALM 1. With Furious Fred? According to Schwalbe 'the fastest racing tyre ever' and virtually semi-slick it seems but middling puncture protection and grip - or instant...

The 'Introduce Yourself Here' thread II

introducing caddy Hi, I'm a daily Amsterdam commuter on a Cadex ALM 1 which I just bought, checked out and refurbished where necessary, from a good bike shop. It's my first MTB. It flies compared to the Amsterdam Granny Bike that preceded it and is a tad heavier to pedal than the ultimately...
