    MUDDYFOX PATHFINDER Original.

I had one of these, but a bit older I think - brown with yellow crackle. I thought it was a good bike, but Ededwards told me he did not rate the' exage farmyard.' Good buy for someone - I liked mine

    WHEN WILL KLEIN BE BACK??

What does Gary Klein do now? Edit - a little research reveals he makes telescopes and he does not want to revive the bike brand.

    Retro tyres that actually work

I had a pair of 1.7 (?, or 1.5) Team Control/Master that I was always scared to ride ... a bit lary on anything except mud.

    Ritchey Plexus

I have seen the seat clamp both ways. I haven't seen anything cheap that would easily mock up as a Plexus either. Didn't FRM's have an externally thicker section at the top of the seattube There is a shop in denmark selling one of these and a swiss cross, both aparently NOS, at an...

Found a Colnago at the junkyard, is it worth anything?

I hate to ask, but which tip (assuming you're in Norway). If that's the one about 100m from where I work I'm going to be mildly distressed

What's the best retro mtb for me ?

One more vote for the Sunn for me. A very fine, practical bike for everyday use.

July 2011 'Euro Special' BoTM - VOTE NOW

Best race steel hardtail... ? ?

I've owned a Yo Eddy and now own a Bontrager, and for racing the latter. The Yo was a bit too twitchy, but if you were taller than me ( and many are) you might swap the choice. I tode an FRO once and thought it too long, but likely perfect for the 90's NORBA races it was made for.

    Fat chance

I must say that there's a lot going around at bonkers money at the moment. If you'd looked 3 or 4 months ago there were several at far more reasonable pricing. A US ebay address is very handy...

    Rose tinted...?

As a note I now have a mid 90's Bontrager that is v. nice to ride, and have gotten rid of my modern Merida as it was so poor to ride - slow, dead, uncomfotable.

    Rose tinted...?

Clearly there are good new bikes and bad old bikes, but for me (I'm short , 5' 8") the marginalisation of decent steel frames to all Al and carbon has been a disaster as they are NOT better to ride. Hydroformed Al (as is newew Konas) are unspeakably poor rides. I could go and buy a new steel...

Hello, who's this having a garage sale......?

Normally this would and should be in the ebay watch forum, but is this a little bit special.? http://cgi.ebay.com/Bontrager-Multi-Mat ... 1e64386d30 Is it really?

Tim Gould's Team Peugeot Roberts White Spider

Right, that's the point. If they'd used a long stay they'd have kaiboshed the handling for racing , and I don't know what stays were available then from Reynolds, but they weren't bendy enough. For those guys a narrow tyre was a nonissue (if not an advantage) so you get a great handling bike...

Tim Gould's Team Peugeot Roberts White Spider

Re. the narrow tyre clearance at the back - my understanding is that it was considered difficult to bend the stays on Reynolds tubes. The alternatives are a narrow rear tube (given the riders background a non-issue) or extra long stays to get round a fat tyre resulting in bargelike handling...

Yo eddy - build ideas - Suntour XC pro?

An on-one cromo fork is visually very similar but I would assume your bike has a one inch steerer so that's tricky. Paintwise I guess I got mine around 92 and it had a grello-purple fade. Nice, but grello and grello blue fade are nice and one of those would be my choice.

Modern Bike or stick with me Retro ?

I'll chip as I have both old and new bikes. About 10 years ago I parted company with my Yo Eddy and got a comparatively cheap Klein to replace it, and came to the conclusion that the equivalent new bike to match the Yo was rather cheaper. That got stolen and since then I've had some modern...

    1987 Bridgestone MB3 + photos

Super bikes. There is an MB-4 occasionally parked at work that looks awfully original bar the late 90's tyres.
