    Claud Butler-Holdsworth frame numbers 1959-1976

Kinch10 One of builders that used vertically stacked numbers on BB (if that is what you are describing) was Reg Collard of WFHoldsworth, Putney Shop. If so 69242 would suggests c.1970. Features suggest a custom build. How about a pic of BB numbers!

    Holdsworth Frame Numbers Update

In dwscrimshaw's Holdsworth serial prediction, that number presently sits in late 1972. Number, other than helping with c. catalogue year to search, is not unique to a particular model. So... you can search nKligariff.com or posting lots of pics are always interesting and would be necessary to...

    Holdsworth Frame Numbers

Sidolis, Interesting, your touring frame has similarities to Tourissmo and Touring Thame models in this post '76 Roy Thame Catalogue. Catalogue models have names identical to prior 1976 Putney shop "Holdsworth" branded models. Your frame appears to have very relaxed geometry as touring model -...

    Holdsworth Frame Numbers

IF this is a Holdsworth it is beyond sell off. It does not fall within recognized serial systems or catalogues to 1985.

    Holdsworth Frame Numbers

That list of "Holdsworth" builders spans several decades and includes builders at factory and Putney shop. For instance not aware of Hurlow ever building for "shop". Collard, Quick, Bird and Roberts certainly did according to Kilgariff. Geometry looks "tourer". 2 sets of bottle bosses support...

    Holdsworth Frame Numbers

Re: Quick himself usually placed serials along BB edge and and later on sometimes bottom of front BB lug. Although Quick was main Thame builder other builders for trade as Charlie Roberts and Alec Bird at unclear times did as well. Sidolis: So there is no other number along edge under rust...

    Holdsworth Frame Numbers

Re: Roy Thame frames were mainly built by TJ Quick and from what I understand Roy did no build the frames himself. The Thame marque continued into the early 80’s when Roy became ill and he decided to cut back. Quick remained active well in to his 80’s. There is a recent addition to Quick...

    Holdsworth Frame Numbers

Looking forward to more pics. As per Dave's message; in conjunction with the serial and known sequences, the frame features are crucial to IF and where fits in known evolution of Holdsworthy design and identification of a Holdsworth/Claud clone model / special, "shop" builds and circa date...

    Holdsworth Frame Numbers

Looking at the stripped head tube of my Sirocco you can see that the original shorter spaced badge would also have been off centre. Guess Holdsworth factory badge person wasn't that fussy.

"It came with a modern style headbadge with the holes drilled off centre, which leads me to think that it never had the cyclone deluxe badge, but i'm not sure?" Steve s, Perhaps your frame has been passed on to several owners? Possibly rare original destroyed or sold off as I would think badge...

    Claud Butler-Holdsworth frame numbers 1959-1976

Yes to Peachy's response re metal badge for Cordon Bleu. Lesser and early models (as Challenge) in 1959 I've seen have Claud signature badge transfer (Holdsworthy style) on head tube which is same as would have been used on seat tube. This signature style badge had London address and did not...

    Claud Butler-Holdsworth frame numbers 1959-1976

Agree, as number is actually 3881 this works for a predicted 1959 Claud Butler. Oiler (as located on this frame) was usually seen on to top of BB for years 1959 to 1964 in Holdsworthy built frames. Semi wrapover fluted seat stay caps were seen on other Cordon Bleu examples towards end of...

    Holdsworth Frame Numbers

Nervex Pro lugs with fluted semi wrapover seat stays were seen on Cyclone in 57 and 58 but number doesn’t fit. Also seen in Claud Cordon Bleu 60/61. But brake and TT braze ons in neither. Number does fit for a c1960 Claud. Top tube guides and Mafac brake spigots were seen in Claud European...

    Claud Butler-Holdsworth frame numbers 1959-1976

Nick I've been back to Cornwall, Scotland, NW Ireland and Italy bike touring since the big trip as a youth. Love spending time over that way. Partner's son lives in Kiel, Germany and we hope to get over, maybe combine with a bike tour while still can. The revised prediction, based on your new...

    Claud Butler-Holdsworth frame numbers 1959-1976

Nick, Thanks that's helpful. So is it safe to assume must have been a few weeks/month after Easter that you received it??? Don't often get a frame with original purchase history at a defining point in serial system. Hence the "dog with a bone approach". Like wise re memory and years. Back...
