    Unused (by current owner) Zinn

Seems I misunderstood the owners description in my enthusiasm to post it on here. I've edited the title of the thread and I'm sorry for any confusion caused. Thanks Andy

    Another help id frame thread

No, not one of mine. Many Thompson Bicycle Company frames did indeed have seat stays attached like that but never into that type of seat clamp. I always used to radius the chainstay, seatstay and fork blade ends. I didn't use that style of under BB cable guide. It's also not an Orbit Thompson as...

Re: I never saw a Falcon frame like that, its either not a Falcon or it's after the Casket group takeover. The stash I found we're traditional old school Italian frames.

All frames were custom built, so yes it would have been built for a specific customer. Andy

Wow! That takes me back. Every frame was custom built, I never made any stock frames at TBC. Tony Jackson was a regular customer and I sold a good few through his shop. Columbus KL was very light and popular for time trial bikes. I'm guessing that I would have just supplied the frame and the...

Re: Hi. I've only just seen this thread and unfortunately the photos aren't displaying which is a shame. As the person responsible for creating this bike I'd love to see it and maybe fill in a bit of history but It was a very long time ago! Andy

Vintage Falcon...anyone help with age / or model?

It was Billy that rang me up, whilst I was in hospital nursing a broken leg, to offer me a job at Falcon. And yes, the majority of the workers in the frame shop were female and they were generally superior to the lads at brazing

Vintage Falcon...anyone help with age / or model?

Re: They were all sold to retailers and if I remember correctly they were not cheap as we offered a custom paint job on each one. Several went to a shop in Huddersfield (I don't recall the name) as that's where I was living at the time. The story goes that they were ordered from a trade show...

Vintage Falcon...anyone help with age / or model?

A bit of inside history. During my brief period (1982) at Falcon Cycles running the frame shop I also had to oversee the closing of the Barton on Humber Elswick factory. Buried deep in the debris I came across 50 or so rather nice, new, Columbus tubed, Italian built, frames that had been...

    Blatant 'Zinn' show off thread

Re: I'm wrong! I've made a few phone calls and it transpires this isn't my old bike but a third preproduction prototype that I now have a vague recollection of building. It's a little smaller than mine and a lot bigger than the black one pictured earlier in the thread. I've spoken with the...

    Blatant 'Zinn' show off thread

Re: Re: Blimey! That's my own old bike and was indeed the very first Zinn. I have no idea how it's survived as I rode it a lot and I mean a lot. We had some adventures together! I'd love to know it came to be back in circulation as I have no clear recollection of what happened it after I...
