I'm pleased to report that despite an initial rejection, my 12yo boy tried the bike and loves it, especially the gears that on his existing ones are the revoshift. I now need to get rid of his old one because I have too many bikes. Anyone for a carrera 14" CTT?

Shortened the chain and it works perfectly now. All finished and yesterday I went for a test ride. A lot better than expected! It glides smoothly and shifts beautifully. Even the brakes with cheap pads are great! Thanks everyone for your help! Here are some pictures 👍

You mean to cut one more link?

Yes, it does shift correctly, but on smallest cogs front and back, the chain bounces because it's slack. In this gear, I've tried closing the chain by 2 links with my finger and the derailleur springs engage and give tension to the chain. Tried the same on biggest cogs front and back and it...

You probably noticed the Mavic wheels. Under all that mud they eventually appeared to be in very good condition.

Now, I cut the chain following the instructions on the video from Park Tool, but I think it's a bit long, so please advise. These are 2 pictures with front largest cog and rear largest cog. And this is with front smallest cog and rear smallest cog. I adjusted the B screw because the chain was...

Hi everyone, pictures of the cables length as promised. I've shorten the front brake cable as well since taking these pictures. On full lock the cables don't stress and Mr @ibbz Confirmed they're ok.

Hi everyone, I've shortened the cables and will post pictures later, but now for the next job: sizing the chain. Are the info in this video correct?

Ok, I had an hour yesterday and fitted the cables. I think I've gone a bit long, but please let me know what you think, especially if I need to change the way the cables cross each other at the front. Thanks

    Wanted Seatpost 30.9mm

Wouldn't the 30.8 be ok? The internal size of the tube is 30.9mm, so 0.1mm difference.

Done an inventory just now and apart from the front mech, star nut bolt, crank bolts and seatpost clamp I have everything. Any recommendation on online shops? Or should I just look here and Ebay?

All same length. They didn't come with the brakes, but from my collection of hardware bits and bobs 😂 Is there a different solution for the rear brakes where the brackets have been filed short? Or what I've done is the only way?

Now, this is the part where I need advice. As you can see I temporarily fitted those campagnolo wheels But I also have these mavic Please don't look at the tyres, I will get better ones, but which wheels would you fit? Both sets are in good condition although they need a good clean, and are...

First problem today: I had half hour to spare so I thought to fit the brakes. Front ones needed a washer because the bolts I had were a touch too long. The rear ones were a bummer. Some bright sparks had filed the brake brakets and were too short, so tightening the bolts would stop the brakes...

Then I started putting things together The seatpost is of the wrong size, only there for picture purposes. Looking for a 30.9mm seatpost atm and 36mm seatpost clamp.

Then I cleaned and greased these components to their former glory. I also had a Shimano Exage M500 but someone here suggested that the XT was a better choice.
