    Rebuilding an circa 2000 RockShoxSID

Re: Thank you for such a good response. I've always taken care of all my bicycle maintenance. But this redrum oil baffled me. Never used RockShocks back at the turn of the century, basically was a marchozzi fan, so I never had any experience with redrum oil. Anyway 15w oil it will be. Once...

    Rebuilding an circa 2000 RockShoxSID

Perhaps I should be posting this in the 1997->, but I'm thinking someone here has done this before. Ok, the RockShox manual says to use "Redrum" fork oil. Well needless RockShox doesn't make Redrum shock oil any more and from what I read on the web, RockShox stopped spec'ing Redrum around '03...

    Early RockShox SID Blue

Thanks for your response. On the surface that sound like a reasonable idea, but in my experience with spray can paint the cap color doesn't always match the paint color inside, which is why I was asking if any body had actually experience painting SID blue and what company and color was used...

    Early RockShox SID Blue

Help me wise ones. I'm refurbishing an earlier, i.e. 2000 RockShox SID fork and was wondering if any one found a particular brand and color of paint that best replicates the SID blue of that era. One member a while ago recommended OSHA blue, but that color can vary from paint company to...

    Syncros Ti Seatpost

Re: Re: very late to the show but if you haven't found the part you are looking I can probably help. I have an older 27.0 Al post that I won't be using and will go in the parts drawer as soon as I finish my retro build. I'd be more than happy to send the part you need for your seatpost for...

1995 Claud Butler Titanius White Industries FINISHED pg21

Re: 1995 Claud Butler Titanius White Industries BUILD starts pg6 Well I tend to agree that those components should have gone on my build. And that Smoke and Dart really do belong on my bike! It's almost impossible to find a good 26x2.1 tire here in the US. Anyway I stick to...

1995 Claud Butler Titanius White Industries FINISHED pg21

Re: 1995 Claud Butler Titanius White Industries BUILD starts pg6 Unbelievable! Your eye for detail and execution is truly exquisite. I think I need to go polish my frame some more. :D

I'm really partial to polished Al and from the images it looks to be in good shape. However, if you go the paint route, you might consider anodizing. I had a '98 Heckler frame anodized and it turned out great. Just a thought.

Fork 80mm for 26 wheels and v-brakes SID or other

Re: Re: Looks like you have a great set of parts to go with the frame. I'm now hunting hard for a set of v-brakes levers. And I too replaced the decals. I put '99 decals on the frame because I really like the Owl Hollow decal with the Owl sticking his head out of the O, but actually my...

Fork 80mm for 26 wheels and v-brakes SID or other

Re: Sorry I don't have a SID. Well actually I do have a SID that I'm currently rebuilding for my Litespeed Owl Hollow. Which Litespeed do you have? Hope you post pictures.

Beautiful build. Excuse my ignorance, but you mentioned "fresh decals from gil" Who is gil? Is this someone who does special request decals? Thx

    1997 Litespeed Owl Hollow

Yeah it did stay on. I'm pretty sure the KING was laser etched on the cups and then painted white. You can't really see it that well in the photos mostly because I'm a lousy photographer. Don't get me wrong it's not as noticeable as before where you had white lettering on a red or black cup...

    1997 Litespeed Owl Hollow

Frame is very stiff indeed that's for sure. Plus the Manitou is basically new. The Manitou is a nice fork albeit cheap as far as new forks are concerned, i.e. 200 USD. The downside of the Manitou is it is it is disk only and the frame is V-brake only. Been leaning towards mechanical disc in...

    1997 Litespeed Owl Hollow

Is was a pretty easy decision for me, as it was for sale just up the freeway from my house and for a 23 year old frame it was in great shape. Getting the King headset was a bonus. The guy who sold it to me said he wanted the headset but couldn't get it out and thought it may have been epoxied...

    1997 Litespeed Owl Hollow

I hear ya. I had one of those on my '98 Heckler. One of the nicest forks I ever came across. And so easy to maintain.

    1997 Litespeed Owl Hollow

Well it's been a while since I've updated my progress, not that there has been a lot but here goes. I'm pretty pleased with how things are shaping up, but not with the speed of the progress. Seems like finding the right parts is either very expensive or impossible, but I do find deals...

Mountain Goat Whiskeytown Racer 1990--new build

Wow! That brings back some old memories. I agree with the other posters about leaving the paint as is. There's nothing like a Jeff Lindsay paint job. A friend of mine who owned a bike shop ordered a goat in the late 80's and it came with the most beautiful wild paint job I'd ever seen. The...
