My "modern" bike...2005 Yeti AS-R SL

This is the most modern mountain bike that I own. Before this, my main ride was a Dekerf Team ST (which I still have; the link is below). I waited until 2007 to hop on the full-suspension bandwagon, and now that I have, I'm perfectly happy to have options. I enjoy having a full-suspension...

My 1990 Specialized Hardrock - Early Symptoms?

The Retrobike Forum has recently transformed the way that I look at my beloved 1990 Specialized Hard Rock...it's like the scales have fallen from my eyes, and now little wheels in my head are turning...so I look forward to your thoughts. My Hard Rock is not fancy, it's not pretty, it's not...

    Approx. 1987 (?) Specialized Stumpjumper

Nope, it's definitely earlier than 1988. The lugged frame is the giveaway. Upon further research, I think there's a good chance it's a 1987 (the last year for lugged construction), as the "Comp" designation was there in '87, and that year Olympic Blue was a color, which appears similar to...

    Approx. 1987 (?) Specialized Stumpjumper

I tried to search old catalogues, etc. to pin down the vintage, and I'm guessing this is around 1986 or 1987. Note the lugs and the U-brake. http://cgi.ebay.com/Old-School-Vintage- ... 35b0b3252c

    Funny ad...1995 Specialized Hardrock

No comment necessary. This one speaks for itself... I checked past catalogues, and the frame appears to be a 1995. http://cgi.ebay.com/Specialized-Hardroc ... 35b084454e

    1997 Ibis Hakkalügi

I don't recall for sure, as I bought the frame 14 years ago, but I know that retail was USD $995 at the time. I was working at a bike shop when I bought the Ibis, and I got employee pricing...I think I paid around USD $700 in 1997. That's just a guess, though...

BoTM Mar 2011 'Born in The USA' - Nominations please

Thank you, GoldenEra, for the vote of confidence in my Hakkalugi. :) And I agree, the stars 'n bars Kona Hot is pretty spiffy.

BoTM Mar 2011 'Born in The USA' - Nominations please

1997 Ibis Hakkalugi John, this may require a ruling from you...If it's not okay to enter my cross bike here, please let me know, and I will humbly take it down... Wow. There are some lovely, lovely bikes up here...many of which have a far more retro vibe than my 1997 Ibis. But, in the...

    1997 Ibis Hakkalügi

One of the things I always appreciated about Ibis is that it's always been funky and different (especially the original incarnation of the company, in the 1980s-90s, before various changes in ownership). When I bought my Hakkalügi in 1997, the Ibis catalog had almost no photos. Here's the...

1997 Ibis Hakkalugi Here's my 1997 Ibis Hakkalugi. I built it up as a go-anywhere, do-anything adventure bike. Accordingly, it's got an eclectic mix of road and mountain parts. (For example, I chose an extra-stout 36-hole rear wheel that can accommodate heavier touring loads). Aside from...

    1999 Dekerf Team ST

Of all the bikes I have, probably the one that I feel most attached to is this 1999 Dekerf Team ST. There's something special and timeless about it, and it probably has more soul than any other bike I own. (Okay, actually, it's a toss-up between this and my old Hardrock, but I digress...) Two...

So what's the story with Dekerf?

Casper, that Dekerf Solitaire is bitchin'. Love it! Especially the green color against the lovely saddle and handlebar tape. I can imagine how quick it must feel...

So what's the story with Dekerf?

Thank you, Tazio, for your nice comments...and I know, the flame paint job is a very personal thing. Some folks like it, some do not. I've heard comments both ways. (Regardless, the airbrush work itself is very skillful.).

So what's the story with Dekerf?

Dekerf Team ST - Reborn! I'm loving this thread because lately I've had Dekerfs on the brain. After several years of riding my Yeti full-suspension, I decided that I really, really missed my Dekerf, which I've had for 12 years. The frame has been in a box for the past three years or so, and...
