Steel then and now - is there really a noticeable difference

So we had high ten steel, and then we had chromoly. And then butting came in. Between the days of the high quality steel of the 90s, Tange Prestige, Ultimate, Columbus Max OR, Reynolds etc and today's steel, are we much significantly better off? The older frames like of Kona Explosifs, and the...

    Voodoo Bizango 17-18" 26er

I got my KHS and Avid brakes with my last wanted ads. Thanks! :) Am now looking for a 17-18" Voodoo Bizango in either frameset or full bike. Should be in very good nick with no chain suck (am strangely very averse to this) or dings etc. ideally with a rigid fork. I realize this is a mass...

So, would u buy a bike which is a little to big?

So - there's this lovely bike which can be had for a pretty good price. The top tube length is ok, but it was custom for someone with long legs. for me though, I would have zero stand over clearance. It's a 29er. Can I? Should I? 80% gravel and the rest for light trails. Thanks!
