Hi, yes, I got married and as I’d been married before I decided to take my wife’s surname (she already had kids with that surname) I am serious but I couldn’t buy yet as I have a car restoration to finish off in the next couple of months which is using up spare money. Can we stay in touch...

Yeti7cje’s Hei Hei is the bike I raced and rode from 1991 until I sold it around 7 or 8 years ago, still with Justin Burls custom titanium fork.

    I just can’t help myself…

Well, after a long, long week of reporting at the end of financial year, I threw down my quill and ledger and, taking tools in hand, set to work for an hour on Friday. New cables, straddle wires and nice old style Dia Compe hangers have sharpened up the brakes now the straddle wires are...

First road ride today - honestly it took me straight back to 1986 and riding in the Peaks, although to be honest I would have killed for a machine this good as my first bike. It might not look much but it would say it rides better than the Conquest I had from 1988 onwards. Good position...

    I just can’t help myself…

I started riding MTBs the year this bike was made. I lived in Sheffield and at the time there were, as far as myself and my friends Rob and Paul knew, only 3 mountain bike riders in the whole city. We rode the Peaks week in week out in combat trousers and hiking boots, we didn’t really know...

You’re right, they are cracking tyres but I’m not sure I can justify spending as much on a tyre as on the bike! I’ll save that for when I bag an early Ritchey or Breezer or the like.

Recommendations for 26” tan walls that are actually rideable welcome as the ones on here are fit for nothing except a coast to the pub

    I just can’t help myself…

I’ve been waiting to have something to post up on Retrobike for quite some while and rejoin the world on old school mountain-bikery but somehow life just gets in the way. A while back I suggested to my long suffering wife that I was done with buying, selling and swapping bikes but here I am...
