    Ritchey Z-Max EVOLUTION

Well I thought that the WCS has a soft compound, but 500 miles seems really short? That´s a quarter of a season for me. I wonder if the other versions are similarly fast wearing.

    Ritchey Z-Max EVOLUTION

Ah bummer, yeah I´ve had them for a couple of years now and they were already pretty hard to find back then. I think I got them via ebay?

Tyres for old Haro legend Mountain bike

These Innovas aren´t really 2.1. Unfortunately I can´t measure them ATM (not fitted), but someone on here surely can, @joglo maybe?

    Ritchey Z-Max EVOLUTION

I have the WCS version in my stash. Like a true retro dork I´ve already removed logos, but did not try them (yet). They are pretty lightweight and thread pattern indeed looks hardly changed from BITD.

    1991 FUNK £5k Shewsbury FB

Despite the nice parts it´s wearing that´s a bit... optimistic.

Can´t open the Faceballs link, but judging from the headline it´s 3 pounds? I´ll take it then!

Spoks too long/sticking out after wheel building?!?

Yep I was going to say 270 seems awfully long for 3x pattern and to plug the numbers in a spoke length calculator.

They should all work, and better than the Sachs one. The looks however ... Quality is also not the best, but as per Sheldon Brown it´s the least important bearing on a bike, only used when freewheeling. Dura Ace MF 7400 was another popular (high quality) choice, but the cogs are UG, so not as...

Had to go back and see how the stem looked like before and only then saw where you painted. Result!

    Vintage tracker Frankenbike tribute build

Brazing in a fire, forks frozen in an acid bath, what´s next? Shooting deer for a new saddle skin? Threads like this are really the spice of retrobike, thanks for sharing!

Found these while window shopping, so it seems like there were anodized versions: https://chillin-chillin.com/items/609bc24ef3c5e74069550aa3

    New bike recommendations wanted

Totally understand your preference for a steel frame. I´d also think that a Flaremax could be a good choice, but that really depends on what you´re planning to ride. I bought the Superlight thinking it was enough coming from fully rigid bikes. In hindsight maybe I should have bought a Heckler...

    New bike recommendations wanted

Sure is a nice bike, but weight is excessive for a short travel trailbike IMHO. The Pinkbike review stated the whole bike as 16.9kg, that´s DH rig territory. I´m contradicting myself a bit as I stated above that weight is not a big deal, but this bike weighs 2kg more than the full on Enduro...

Help w/ rim suggestions for 1989 Wicked build

There was also the even wider Mavic M281 (and predecessor Rando M5), but with all these wider rims (M261, RM25) you´ll struggle to find them NOS as they were quickly getting out of fashion at the start of the 90s. Making that task nearly impossible is to find them in 32h variety. These rims were...

    New bike recommendations wanted

I was doing a lot of reading lately, but the fundamentals did not really change in the last 10 years (last time I was really "into it") Horst Link type back ends are smooth and provide a largely de- coupled rear brake (suspension does not firm up during braking) Single pivot feels more...

    New bike recommendations wanted

I´m in a similar situation after a test ride of an Orange Stage 6 Evo (150/140 travel) a friend put me on after I complained that the trails here are quite sketchy to ride on my current "modern" bike, a 2013 Santa Cruz Superlight (120/100 travel). While the bike´s travel and geometry certainly...
